RAGOM

Woogie

Profile

Woogie is a two year old mixed breed male who came into RAGOM from a shelter.  Not much is known about him, but he's done great in his short time in foster care!  He can live with other dogs, but has not been cat tested.  He did see a cat at the vet, but did not react. He is still fearful, so kids should be 15 or older so they are mature enough to understand his fear.   Woogie does not need a physical fence but does have some energy to burn, so a plan for regular exercise is necessary.

When Woogie first arrived, the world was a pretty scary place for him. He was extremely fearful and would sometimes have accidents when people approached him. But little by little, he is learning that he is safe — and we are starting to see the real Woogie come out. 🥹

✨ His fearful urination has been completely non-existent for the past five days!
🛏️ He has discovered that beds are AMAZING and has become the best snuggler.

🚶‍♂️ He LOVES going for walks and is no longer afraid when we put his harness on.
🏡 He has learned our daily routine and is starting to understand what we expect from him.

🚙 Woogie jumps into the car like a champ if we go somewhere and is the perfect passenger!

🐕 He has taken a lot of direction from our resident dog, who has become a pretty great role model for him.
❤️ And most importantly, every single day Woogie is a little more confident.

He is still fearful of new people and needs someone who will give him time, patience, and space to build trust. But seeing the changes in him has been incredible. Three weeks ago, we were trying to help him feel safe enough to simply exist in our home. Today, he seeks out his bed, enjoys his walks, comes looking for snuggles, and is beginning to show us just how sweet he really is.

Woogie is proof that sometimes the biggest transformations happen quietly — one walk, one nap, one snuggle, and one brave little step at a time. 🐾❤️

We can’t wait to see who this boy becomes as his confidence continues to grow!

  3. Woogie came into RAGOM from an animal shelter, and has been learning how to be a dog! Woogie is 2 years old, and in just over a week he’s been adjusting great. Woogie came into RAGOM from an animal shelter, and has been learning how to be a dog! Woogie is 2 years old, and in just over a week he’s been adjusting great. Though he can be very fearful of people, he is slowly learning to trust and he quickly warms up when he figures out he’s getting some lovin’. In fact, he’s an absolute snuggle bug when he gets pets. When he is scared, Woogie will cower and urinate a little but that has reduced drastically in one week and I believe will only get better with time and trust. He seems to have more fear with men over women.

Woogie has done well with my resident dog; however, he’s learned he really likes his toys and he doesn’t want to share them. He has no issues if I take a toy. While I believe Woogie could benefit from a confident dog, I also believe he would be wonderful as an only dog.

Potty training is going well and Woogie is 98% there. Any “accidents” we have are fear-based at this point. He walks wonderfully on a leash, if he feels tension on the leash he slows his pace. While curious when we pass people or dogs, he shows no aggression, only mild apprehension in his curiosity.

Woogie has high-anxiety in a crate. He has been left unattended outside of a crate and has been a complete gentleman with no issues of destruction or accidents. Woogie has come so far in one week and there will be more new experiences for him as we explore this new world for him. We will report back soon!

I believe Woogie would do best in a home with a patient owner willing to give him time and routine to feel safe again. A female owner would be best, but I feel he could adapt with a male presence as well. He really will make the best dog once he finds a safe place to land and a lap to snuggle in.
