Need to Surrender?
We’re here to help Golden Retrievers and Golden mixes find the care, compassion, and forever homes they deserve—while supporting you through every step of the process.
We know that deciding to surrender your dog is one of the hardest decisions you may ever have to make. Whatever your circumstances, you’re not alone. We’re here to support you with compassion and understanding.
Dogs come to RAGOM for many reasons, including changes in family circumstances, health concerns, financial hardship, or behavioral challenges. Whatever your story, your Golden Retriever or Golden mix will receive the care, patience, and love they deserve in a safe foster home.
Our experienced volunteers take the time to understand each dog’s personality, needs, and potential before carefully matching them with a thoroughly screened adoptive family. Our goal is to ensure every dog has the opportunity to thrive in a safe, loving, forever home.
RAGOM also works closely with animal shelters, veterinarians, breeders, and other rescue organizations to help Golden Retrievers and Golden mixes in need. If you’re contacting us about a dog in your care, our Intake Team is here to guide you through the process.
Can We Help Your Dog?
RAGOM rescues Golden Retrievers and Golden mixes, including dogs that have the appearance and temperament of a Golden Retriever.
Every dog is unique, so we take the time to learn about your dog’s health, behavior, and individual needs before determining whether our program is the right fit. Many dogs come to us with medical conditions or behavioral challenges, and each case is evaluated individually.
Our goal is to ensure that we can provide every dog with the care, support, and path to adoption they deserve. If we’re unable to accept your dog, we’ll do our best to provide guidance or suggest other resources that may help.
What Happens Next?
After you contact RAGOM, one of our Intake Team volunteers will reach out to learn more about your dog. We’ll ask about their health, personality, daily routine, likes and dislikes, and any special needs so we can get to know them as an individual. We’ll also explain our surrender process and answer any questions you may have.
The more we know about your dog—their routines, preferences, personality, and even their challenges—the better we can care for them, prepare their foster family, and find the loving forever home that’s the right fit. Every detail you share helps set your dog up for success.
Once we’ve identified a foster home that meets your dog’s needs, we’ll work with you to schedule the surrender. At that time, you’ll complete the paperwork transferring ownership to RAGOM so we can provide veterinary care, place your dog in foster care, and begin the search for their forever family.
To help make the transition as comfortable as possible, we encourage you to send your dog with their vaccination records, medications, favorite toys or blanket, and any other items that will help them feel safe and at home during this new chapter.
