Skye
Profile
Skye is a beautiful 9-year-old Golden Retriever who is done with the breeding world and ready to be your whole world. She will soak up all the love and attention you can give. She does well with other dogs and cats. She has had limited experience with children but it went well. She is enjoying walks and is well on her way with potty training. Another dog would be beneficial to continue to show her the ropes of her forever home but not required.

Skye was beyond excited to receive the kindness of a sponsor! Though Skye is a true queen, she had no idea a dog--any dog--could be treated so doggone well! She would like to extend a huge (and hairy!) THANK YOU! Your donation directly helps RAGOM's foster dogs in need. Without such generosity Skye would not be on her way to living her well-deserved golden life. Skye is fostered in honor of Crisco, Shanya, and Pooschok. Read more → Read less ↑

Please join us in welcoming Skye to RAGOM and to Minnesota! Skye is a 9-year-old former breeder mama from Missouri who recently packed her bags and left her breeder days behind to start the golden life here in our great state.

Skye is an incredibly affectionate gal who is happiest when she’s close to her people—and by close, I mean close! Skye is the definition of a velcro dog. She is your right hand, your left hand, your right foot, and your left foot… you get the picture! Her favorite place is wherever her people are (bonus points if it’s on the couch or includes treats!) and she does not like to stray far. While Skye would prefer to be with her people always, she understands someone has to bring home the kibble and does well in her crate when her foster parents are at work. We have also experimented leaving Skye out of her crate in a safe gated room for an hour or two at a time with the company of her foster sisters. She has done very well and has not shown any signs (either with or without us) of inappropriate chewing. We have not tried leaving Skye longer than a couple of hours at this juncture as she is not fully potty trained—but well on her way! Though she has not had an accident in over a month, Skye has not yet learned to alert her humans as to when she has to go outside. Currently, we have frequent, puppy-style potty breaks to encourage a bathroom routine and help Skye learn the appropriate space to go potty.

That smile gets us every time!
Though 9, Skye has a lot of pep in her step! When her foster parents get home from work, Skye does the cutest promenade from her crate to the backyard and continues her happy trot outside. She loves to play with our 1-year-old puppy and seems to also exude big puppy energy! However, these spurts are much less frequent than a puppy and Skye is generally more content spending her days napping, lounging, or happily chewing on a bone. She is learning to walk on a leash and has done surprisingly well following the lead of her foster sisters. She LOVES her walks and is the first in line to get her harness on (and pats—she is always first in line for pats)!

Skye is looking for a calm, patient family to show her the benefits and boundaries of living inside a loving home. She has done well learning from her golden retriever foster sisters how to more appropriately act inside. Skye would love to have another dog-sibling in her forever home to help quick-start her in-home life, but it’s not required so long as she can soak in that guidance from her family. Skye does well with our cat but has not lived with children and has had minimal interaction while in foster. Though limited, her interaction with two calm and respectful dog-savvy neighbor children went very well and Skye even seemed to like the extra attention!
Skye is ready to unpack her bags (for good this time!), be unconditionally loved, and stay your dedicated companion in her new forever home. Could she be the gal for you?!
