Norman
Profile
Norman is a handsome 4.5 year old Golden Retreiver who is affectionate and eager to be a part of whatever you're doing. He is house- trained, kennel- trained, walks nicely, and gets along well with other dogs. He has not been tested with cats. Due to a couple of past nipping incidents when introductions were rushed, Norman would do best in a home with children ages 10+ who respect his space and allow him to approach on his own terms.

Norman is a handsome 4. 5 year old Golden Retriever that is up to date on his vaccinations, monthly preventatives, microchipped and neutered. He went to the vet for his wellness exam upon entering foster care and received a clean bill of health. So let me tell you about Norman and what I’ve learned in the short time he has been in my home. I’ve learned he’s an AWESOME guy! Norman knows his name and some basic commands such as sit, down, come, stop it and give it as examples. We are working on “wait” for when he goes through a door or comes out of his kennel.
Norman has been good about giving up his “prizes” when I ask him to bring it or drop it. He is leashed train and does well when walking. He is kennel trained and kennels up without any problems when asked. Norman has free roam of the house when I am home and sleeps on the floor by my bed and is very good at sleeping through the night without causing trouble. Norman is also house trained and was very quick to learn the household routine and schedule. He is good about loading up in the car and settling right in being a great passenger!
This boy loves attention, is affectionate in return, wants to be near you and whatever you are doing. At his vet appointment he was a little nervous, but very friendly and social with everyone there. He might have even flirted a bit with the ladies. Norman was a star at a recent public event meeting people and being an ambassador for RAGOM.

Norman’s history does include to 2 instances in his 4 ½ years where he nipped at someone because he didn’t get a chance to meet the persons in a slow introduction. Because of this, children in the home should be at least 10 years old. While he has been in my home, he has done well with visiting kids and adults that give him some space and let him come to them on his terms.
In his foster home, he is living with 3 female goldens and getting along great with all of them. My goldens have set some boundaries that he has respected, and Norman has also set some of his own boundaries. All 4 of them eat together in the kitchen without any issues and I have not seen any resource guarding of his “possessions”. Norman is not going to require another dog in his new home. He appears to have confidence in himself and doesn’t seem to require another dog to lean on.
Legend has it that Norman has spent some time in the show ring and is familiar with an Agility Course. If you are looking for a buddy that wants to get out and explore with you, Norman just may be the guy for you.
