Bailey

Profile

Bailey came into RAGOM's care as an owner surrender. Aside from needing to lose a little weight, she is a healthy dog. Bailey can live with children ages 15 and above. She must be the only dog in the home but she may live with cats. Bailey does not require a physical fence. She will require a family that can remain patient with her and give her plenty of time to adjust to her new surroundings.

Have you ever wished that your shadow was the shape of a Golden Retriever? Meet Bailey! This 7-year-old Golden Retriever makes it her #1 hobby to follow you everywhere you go. Going out to the garage? Bailey will rush out before you to make sure there's a clear path. Taking a shower? Bailey will lay against the shower door and stare longingly into your eyes. Bailey will snuggle up against you everywhere you sit, even when you think she can't fit! She has really mastered the "golden nudge" and will shove her snout under your hand to demand pets when she wants them. When Bailey trusts you, she is sweeter than sugar.

Bailey needs a family that can focus on increasing her confidence. She requires a calm and consistent environment. This gal is nervous around new people and does not feel comfortable accepting pets from strangers. New people need to be introduced slowly, individually, and with positive reinforcement.

Bailey is obsessed with tennis balls. She wants to chase them, retrieve them, pretend to give them back, and roll all over them! She's also never met a stuffed toy she is not a fan of. Bailey and her foster mother play lots of tug and fetch inside with plush toys. She has a classic golden personality and loves to bring you her favorite toy when you arrive home!

At a little over 90 lbs, Bailey is a bit oversized. The vet recommended she lose a few pounds in order to take some pressure off of her joints. She will need a home that can focus on her long-term health. Bailey has no other health concerns and enjoys staying active. She is visibly excited when you go to grab her leash or open the door to the yard. She loves a long walk outside where she can sniff all of the smells (especially dog pee).

She is a very well-behaved house guest and comes fully potty trained. Bailey can be trusted to be left out of her crate and is non-destructive. She ignores any items that aren't hers. Bailey does not require a fenced-in yard at her new home.

Bailey was surrendered to RAGOM after she was resource guarding her owner from a female dog sibling. Based on her history, Bailey needs to be the only dog in the home. Any exposures to other dogs need to be controlled and limited.

When Bailey is scared, she does exhibit behaviors like snarling and growling. Because children could miss Bailey's warning signs, she can only live with older children (15+). Bailey is especially nervous around men and it can take a couple days for her to feel comfortable around a man. Once she trusts them, she acts like her normal self.

At 7 years old, Bailey will require a family that can remain patient with her for the rest of her life. Rest assured, she has proved that she can settle into a new environment and exhibit all of the typical, goofy golden traits.
