RAGOM

Brooks

Profile

Brooks is a 5 and a half year old male Golden Retriever mix who came into RAGOM from an auction.  Brooks is house and kennel trained.  He can be an only dog or live with other dogs. He has not been cat tested.   Kids in his home should be 5 or older.  Brooks may be shy but shows no fear or avoidance of calm, respectful children.  Brooks does not need a physical fence in his new home as long as there is a plan to keep him safe.

Brooks is very welcoming and loves attention. He’s happiest when he’s close to his people. On walks, he can pull and lurch a bit, but he’s been doing very well with a gentle leader.

He has not had any accidents in the house. On the first day, he did scent mark a few times, but that stopped immediately as he settled in. He originally arrived with soft stools, but after a few weeks of consistent food, his digestion has improved, and his stools have firmed up nicely.

Brooks came with a few ticks and tested positive for a tick-borne infection. No treatment is required, and he’s doing well.

He doesn’t know formal commands yet, but he naturally does many of the behaviors we ask for—he just doesn’t know them on cue. He is food-motivated and will likely learn quickly with continued training.

Brooks kennels well when I’m out of the house. He may bark occasionally, especially if he sees a cat or squirrel outside, but otherwise does fine.

He currently lives with two other dogs and fits in nicely with them. He would do well in a home with other dogs or would be perfectly content as an only dog.

Brooks is a loving, gentle boy who will make a wonderful companion for the right family.
