Charlie
Profile
Charlie came into RAGOM as a stray. He is a Golden Retriever mix and estimated to be around 3 1/2 years old. He is quickly adapting to the good life! Charlie has not been cat tested but can live with other dogs and kids of all ages. He does not need a physical fence as long as there is a plan to keep him safe. Charlie is scheduled to be neutered on January 24th.

Charlie is a very sweet, affectionate, and spunky boy who was found as a stray, so not much is known about him. He came into RAGOM’s care one week ago and has been an easy addition to his foster home. Charlie is a huge lover! He loves all people and dogs. Things that make Charlie a very good boy:
- Crate trained
- Walks great on a leash and thrives with his twice daily walks
- Will wear booties in the MN cold
- Gets along with all dogs
- Loves the car (needs to be told to stay in the backseat haha!)
- Has had no accidents in the house
- Not destructive
- He knows sit
- Loves bones, bully sticks, kongs, etc., and this keeps him busy
The vet estimated he is around 3.5 years old. He is a very healthy boy despite being on his own for a while, with one quirk - two missing toes on his back paw. He will occasionally lift that leg and tripod walk without it. The vet thinks he either had frostbite or it’s a congenital abnormality. It does not seem to bother him so it’s nothing to be concerned about.
He came into RAGOM very skinny. Since we’ve had him, he has already gained 9 lbs! The vet thinks at a normal weight he should be around 50 lbs. he LOVES food. We have to use slow feeders or puzzles to slow him down.

We decided to crate train him because he showed signs of separation anxiety when we left the home. Our cameras showed him pacing, barking, and scratching at the door. Now, he goes right into the crate at night and sleeps straight through.
When we go to work, he will sleep most of the time in the crate with occasional barking and whining. If I talk to him through the camera, he will curl up and go back to sleep. I think he fears abandonment and will just need time and reassurance from his person to help build up his confidence.
Charlie’s neuter is scheduled for January 24th and he will be ready to go to his new home once he is healed.
He is looking forward to the good life and would love to see if it can be with you!
