Delilah

Profile

Meet Delilah! This 6-year-old Golden Retriever is a retired breeder mama looking for her forever home. She would prefer to be an only dog and soak up all the love and attention. She would do best in a home with older dog savvy children and seems to do well with cats. Apartment living is not a suitable option for sweet Delilah but a physical fence is optional with a plan to keep her safe.

Please welcome Delilah! This beautiful girl has retired from her former breeding life and is ready for her next chapter as your best friend.

When Delilah first arrived at our home she had little desire to associate with our resident dogs and would give them a growl. After a couple of weeks their interactions have gotten much better, but she would prefer a home without other dogs. She has had good interactions with our two resident cats. Delilah has not had exposure to kids in our home, but it is felt she would do better if they were older dog savvy children.

Over the first two weeks Delilah has gotten more comfortable in her new environment and has actually done a short zoomie. She has also advanced to running around in the yard and following one of her foster sisters. Even though Delilah had never lived in a home, she quickly has learned about going outside to potty and has had only one accident. Too much loud noises can be stressful including when other dogs are barking so apartment/ shared wall living would not be suitable.

Delilah is a healthy girl, but does need to lose some weight. She weighed 87 pounds at her first vet visit. Her spay appointment is set for March 10th and she will be available for adoption after a sufficient recuperation period. She has not had much experience walking on a leash, but is eager to be near her person so she should learn quickly. She needs to be coaxed into the car, but once in rides well.

Even though Delilah has never lived in a home, she is learning home living items quickly. She will scratch at the door when she wants to go outside. She loves laying on the couch and if
allowed would cuddle up to her human all day. She loves being in the kitchen while breakfast is being made as she knows treats may be available. Will she be your new sous chef?
