Lana

Lana has been adopted and is setting into her forever home. Enjoy the Golden life, Lana!

Lana is a beautiful dark red golden retriever looking for her forever family. After 5 years of being a devoted mama Lana is ready to be the center of attention in her own loving family. 

Lana is slowly learning what it's like being part of a family routine. She is currently being fostered with two other adult golden retrievers and a grouchy old mini Aussie. Lana has done wonderful with all of the dogs in the house and has even started engaging in play with the other dogs. 

Lana does have some anxiety which is expressed by wanting to be very near her people. If you know and love golden retrievers you know they have been referred to as velcro dogs. Lana is a velcro dog plus some. We don't know much about Lana's past or what makes her need to be so close to her humans but that is the way she is. We have started Lana on some anxiety medication to help her. We don't know if Lana will need this medication for life or temporarily but feel it's important for any potential family to know she is on medication.  

We discovered Lana is already kennel trained and potty trained. She had a few accidents initially but once she learned what door she needed to go to she has done wonderfully. 

We do kennel Lana when we are away but did recently do a trial run where we left her out for a little over an hour while we ran some quick errands and all was well when we returned home.

Lana enjoys playing with toys and will chew on the stuffies and like many goldens loves to destroy them but will also just carry them around in her mouth. 

We don't know how much prior experience Lana has on a leash but was pleasantly surprised when she walked fairly well. She does get startled by loud noises at times and will stop walking so she sometimes needs a little encouragement to keep going. We have successfully walked up to two miles with her. 

I do feel it is important that Lana's forever family consists of at least one adult female as she seems to gravitate towards the female in her foster home. That being said she has not shown any fear towards men. Lana will do fine as an only dog because she 100% wants all the attention. Lana would also do fine with another dog in the home too. Lana will require a patient family who keeps providing her with the love and security she craves to become a great family dog. A family that is home more than away or else takes their dog with them would be ideal.
