Lewis and Clark are brothers that have just recently come into foster care. They are purebred with AKC papers, lighter in color, and are neutered. They are the most wonderful dogs and we are madly in love with them already! I don't think I have ever been around dogs as easy to care for and loving as these guys. They were littermates who are hoping to stay together, but we know that might not be possible.
Lewis is a wonderful, sweet, gentle teddy bear. Lewis is four years old. He is roughly 90 pounds, but we will confirm that when we go to the vet on Wednesday for his check up. He has a very sweet disposition. Lewis is never without at least one toy, bone, or ball in his mouth. The most toys I have seen so far has been three at one time. It is fun to see him organize them in his mouth so he can carry them around for play. Lewis loves to retrieve! He can play fetch for hours. When we aren't playing fetch, he is content just chewing on his bone or sitting being petted.
He is great around kids, and our dog just loves him. He rarely barks and is completely housetrained. He is used to free roam and never makes trouble when he has free roam. He does not countersurf, but does like to sit near the table when we are eating.
We gave both Lewis and Clark each a good bath on their first night here, and they were both angels in the shower. Both of them also stood perfectly still the entire time that we were cutting mats out of their fur before the bath. They are now so soft and smell good! Our first night ended with them sleeping on the floor next to our bed with our dog. They are very happy here and have adjusted immediately

He will either lay by the front door with his brother during the day or he will sit with me in the living room. Either way, he always stops by periodically to come by and say hi. Lewis has been with us for almost a week now. We love him more and more everyday. This is an amazing dog with no bad habits and a lot of love to give. He LOVES to be brushed. If he is the right boy for you, toys make him so happy. It doesn't matter what it is, he will be grateful he has it and treat it like a precious jewel. He does not destroy his toys. He is very gentle with them.
I can't tell you what a joy it is every morning to get up and as my feet are touching the ground both Lewis and Clark are right there standing up with me ready to start the day with their tags wagging! I did find that when there is activity across the street, or someone coming to the door, the boys will give out a bark. It is just their way of saying hi, but boy does it make me feel safer at night knowing these guys are next to me in case anything bad ever did happen.
Have a mentioned how well behaved these boys are?
Lewis went to the vet today with a very clean bill of health. I was off on his weight. He is only 86 pounds of pure love.
I would really like to keep Lewis and Clark (08-452) together. They fit together so well and it is no extra trouble to have both of them rather than just the one. I do think they would do best in a home that has some sort of fence. They have wandered their whole life and even though they are really good on a tie-out, I think they would be so much happier being able to roam freely around the yard.
