Profile
Meet Meg! She's a 14 week old Golden Retriever puppy who came into RAGOM from a breeder release. She is a typical puppy, needing a lot of attention as she learns the world around her. Meg can live with other dogs and kids of all ages, but like all puppies, she likes to chew on everything. Her new home must be committed to training so Meg can be a cherished member of her family.

Maple loves playing in the water and swimming, going for walks and keeping a close eye on the birds, squirrels and frogs in our yard. She is such a smart and sassy girl and makes us laugh all day long!

Meet Meg: She’s perfectly Golden!
Introducing Meg, a 14-week-old golden retriever born on January 31st, released to RAGOM from a commercial breeder. She is seeking a permanent home.
About Meg: Meg is an active and extremely outgoing and friendly Golden Retriever puppy who enjoys exploring her environment and playing with stuffed toys and tennis balls. She needs significant attention and could be described as a Velcro puppy, as she wants to be with her human when she is awake and active.

She is progressing in socialization and shows eagerness to greet people. A family that is knowledgeable with large breed puppies would be best due to the patience and demands they require. She is currently sleeping peacefully in a crate overnight and awakes with a quiet bark to alert the household that she is awake and ready to begin the day. Meg normally wakes up around 7:00am and goes outside, eats breakfast, goes outside again then enjoys a treat and training session. At night, she settles quickly after her last visit outside.
Meg is working on "sit" and doing very well. She is also working on potty training. Although she goes outside regularly, she has not yet started indicating when she needs to go outside.
Meg would adapt well in a household with or without children and other pets. Like all puppies, she will need guidance and training to learn how to properly approach people, what items she may have and what items are not hers to play with. Meg does not guard her food and permits brushing as well as paw handling. Meg is teething and tends to chew on toys, hands, feet, and various objects.
Her interests include mealtimes, lick mats, frozen chicken broth ice cubes, crushed ice cubes, finding her reflection, and playing fetch with a tennis ball. Meg has received her initial vaccinations and will need to be spayed by a licensed veterinarian between 12-15 months of age.
Important Points for Potential Adopters:
Training and Socialization: Raising a puppy like Meg requires time, high levels of patience, and consistency. Early training and socialization are crucial to helping her grow into a well-behaved and confident adult dog. Enrolling Meg in puppy training classes and exposing her to various environments, people, and other animals will set her up for success. Did you know that RAGOM reimburses adopters $25 with certificate proof of attendance and another $25 with proof of a second advanced class attendance?
Exercise and Playtime: Golden retrievers are known for their high energy levels and need for regular exercise. Meg will thrive in a home where she can enjoy daily walks, playtime in the yard, and interactive games. Keeping her physically and mentally stimulated will prevent boredom and promote a healthy lifestyle.
Nutrition and Health: Providing Meg with a balanced diet is essential for her growth and development. Consult your veterinarian to choose the best puppy food and establish a feeding schedule. Regular vet check-ups, vaccinations, and preventive care will ensure Meg stays healthy and happy. Meg is currently eating Purina Pro Plan for Puppies. She was 23lbs at her vet check on 5/3 and eating ½ cup of food three times a day.
Grooming: Golden Retrievers have a beautiful double coat that requires regular grooming to keep them clean and free of mats. Brushing Meg's coat a few times a week and scheduling occasional baths will help maintain her coat's health and shine. Don't forget to trim her nails, clean her ears, and brush her teeth regularly.
Love and Attention: Puppies like Meg thrive on love and attention from their human companions. Be prepared to spend quality time with her, providing plenty of affection, positive reinforcement, and bonding activities. Building a strong relationship with Meg will create a lifelong bond filled with trust and loyalty.
