Poof
Profile
Poof is a one year old Goldendoodle who came into RAGOM when her owner could no longer care for her. She loves other dogs and does need another dog in her forever home. She has low prey drive and has not been cat tested but seems curious when she's seen them at the vet or a pet store. Poof is a little timid, so kids should be 10 or over, as she gets startled by loud noises and loud voices. Poof loves to run off leash, so a fenced yard would be ideal, but is not required, as long as there is a plan to keep her safe.

On Monday my foster mom woke me up early and took me to this building that smelled really funny. There were a lot of other dogs and cats there, and this really weird looking thing with scales and a long tongue… it kind of freaked me out! I’m glad I’m just a dog! All the people in the building were really nice though and they all loved to tell me how cute I am (duh!). This lady named Technician came in and asked a bunch of questions! I wanted to say “Listen, I don’t really have time for all of this, I haven’t even had breakfast!” But all of a sudden my foster mom was saying “I’ll see you later, Poofie,” and I realized it was time to take a stand against this nonsense! I simply told Ms. Technician I would no longer be walking and I insisted on leaving with my foster mom. Unfortunately, my protest was not effective and pretty soon I was taking the best nap of my LIFE! When I woke up my foster dad came to pick me up and everyone was talking about this thing called a “spay.” It sounds really intense but honestly I think it’s going great!

I’ve been taking lots of naps, and I get peanut butter twice a day! Foster mom said it’s to help me take my “m-e-d-s,” whatever that means. I’m glad the weather has been pretty cold because I don’t feel like I’m missing out on much. To be honest I think my foster sister is jealous because I’ve been getting allllll this attention. My foster parents say she’s just trying to help take care of me, which is pretty nice of her! Well anyway I better go or I’ll be late for my afternoon nap, it’s exhausting being this popular!

We have learned Poof really does require a resident dog as she actively seeks them out and looks to them for confidence and security. Read more → Read less ↑

Hi again, it’s me Poofie Pea! I was thinking maybe you’d want to know what I’ve been up to this past week? Turns out foster mom and foster dad went on this thing they call “a vacation.” I have no idea why they would ever want to leave me and my foster sister (because we are the bestest girls ever!), but I actually got to have a fun trip of my own. I got to stay with another RAGOM foster friend while my foster parents were away! I was really nervous at first to be in a new space and I wasn’t sure where I fit in, but I met these really nice friends who helped to show me the way.

Hi there! Allow me to introduce myself… my name is Poof (or according to my foster family, Poofer, Poofer Peanut, and Poofie Pea)! I am in the market for a new place to call home after my previous owner had some health issues limiting my care. I can’t wait to find a forever family where I can settle in and make myself at home. Let me tell you a bit about myself so maybe we can start to get to know each other… I may be a small girl but don’t worry, I... Read more → Read less ↑
Let me tell you a bit about myself so maybe we can start to get to know each other…

I may be a small girl but don’t worry, I have a big personality and a lot of love to make up for what I lack in size! I am barely a year old but my foster mom tells me I am very mature for my age. I am a professional lap dog. Really, I would be content to just sit and be a couch potato with you all day! However, if I had to pick a favorite activity I would say it would be going for a good leisurely stroll. I love to spend time sniffing all the smells and stopping to have a chat with the neighbor dog.
I am still learning how to be a puppy in some ways. For example, I don’t completely understand all the fuss over dog toys and bones. I guess it’s just not my thing, but maybe someday I will change my mind. I do love to play with my foster sister! Her and I are great friends! We love to play wrestling together until foster mom and dad say, “You girls are too crazy!", then we usually take a nap and snuggle on the couch instead.

Honestly I would love another well-mannered dog sibling in my future home to bond to, but I think I would also do just fine being an only fur child. Really I just want to know I can trust my future humans to love me no matter what. I'm crate trained when my humans are gone, but I get to sleep outside of the crate at night in the bedroom with my foster fur sister.
I can be very nervous sometimes and I am working on my anxiety management. I had a few accidents when I got nervous. Foster mom thinks I am just a chronic over-thinker like her! To be quite frank with you, men make me a little timid. No offense or anything, they’re just usually pretty loud when they walk and their voices are so deep sometimes I feel like I’m in trouble when they talk to me. I have gotten to know my foster dad pretty well and I’ve learned he’s actually a pretty cool guy! I like that he gives me treats and lets me take my time to warm up to him.
The more I get out and about with my foster family I have learned that even though sometimes things feel scary at first (like loud noises and dark doorways), I can trust my human friends to help me stay safe and calm. Because of this, I'd do better with kids 10 and over.
I don’t know about you, but I think I am quite the catch! I have to visit the vet on January 20th to make sure I don't have puppies, but will able to move to my forever home once I'm healed. If you would like to learn more about me or maybe even hang out sometime please reach out! I can’t wait to meet you!
