It is truly our pleasure to introduce you to Sunshine 13-145! Sunshine is a beautiful 5 year old Golden Retriever cross that made her way to RAGOM as a stray out of Kentucky. She is currently being fostered in Mazeppa, Minnesota. She came to RAGOM weighing 64 pounds so she is a little overweight and has a bit of a ragged coat but we are working on that – some good food and exercise should do the trick. Sunshine had her wellness visit with the vet this week and she is in perfect health.
We didn’t get to name this girl, but whoever did picked the perfect name to describe her. She has a sunny, happy disposition that has endeared her to her foster family (both human and canine members). Sunshine moved right in with our resident pack that includes our four dogs – she was very respectful and had no issues with any of them. Even the resident grouch dog warmed up to her in about a day – a new record for the grouch! So, we are happy to report she is good with other dogs! Sunshine is house-broken, respects baby gates, and is crate trained. We have discovered in the first few days with us that she knows several commands – sit, down, stay, shake, and roll over. She obviously was somebody’s well trained pet earlier in her life. And, Sunshine has the most beautiful eyes! That is about as much as we know about her at this time but we will keep updates coming as we learn more about her.
Thinking about Sunshine brings to mind some songs made popular by John Denver, Kim Carnes, and Van Morrison – Sunshine on My Shoulder, Bette Davis Eyes, and Brown Eyed Girl .
