Profile

Ivy is a 2 year old cream colored Golden Retriever. She spent her early life in a commercial breeder facility along with her sister Izzy (23-279), and then in a home environment for a short time before coming into RAGOM. She lives with other dogs easily and needs another confident dog to model and for companionship. Kids in the home should be age 8+ since she can be jumpy at times and may overwhelm younger children. Ivy hasn't been cat tested. A physical fence is preferred but not required as long as Ivy gets plenty of walks and other exercise opportunities. Ivy loves people and walks on leash like a pro. She has learned alot about living in a home but has a few lingering concerns when left alone. With patience and guidance, Ivy will become a wonderful family companion.

Ivy met her new parents, Deb and Gary, yesterday. Her sweetness quickly captured their hearts. She headed off to her new home and joined several doggy sisters (all rescues). Early reports are that the intros went well with lots of sniffing and no growling. She will have ample supplies of love, attention, and affection from her humans, and lots of companionship with her doggy sisters. I am so happy for Ivy and her new family!

Ivy has some good news to share! She is meeting her potential forever family tomorrow. They are driving a long way from eastern Wisconsin to meet her. If all goes well, she will be heading home with them to become a Packers fan and to live a wonderful life with three rescued doggy sisters, retired mom and dad, and a large and very dog-friendly extended family. The past nearly four months with Ivy has been a rocky road at times, but she has overcome many of her anxieties and has bloomed into a sw...

Ivy is fully recovered from her spay surgery and is feeling spunky! Her confidence is growing daily and she has come a long way since she arrived here. One of the areas where she has grown is her playfulness with me and with the resident dogs. Ivy and I play a lot of fetch and she especially likes tennis balls and her spiky balls. Ivy plays with ball Ivy also enjoys fetching with the Wubba toy. She also has gotten brave enough to engage in tug games with resident dog Gracie (16-211) and they bo...

This week has been a week of recovery from surgery for Ivy. She is feeling very well and would love to be more active than I'd like. She made a couple of breakthoughs in her play development. First, we worked on her close quarters ball catching. I gently toss a tennis ball from a couple of feet away. After quite a few bonks on her nose, she caught on to catching the ball in the air and is very pleased with herself. Once her stitches are out, we can work on longer distance catching with more runn...

Ivy has had another good week. She is steadily refining her skills at playing fetch. She also is making a little progress in learning how to join my resident dogs in their play sessions. They have their own, well-established play style and Ivy is a little uncertain how to get involved. And, to be honest, they are not particularly interested in changing their play style to include her. But she is persistently working on finding her place in the play and I'm looking forward to the time when she fi...

Ivy has come a long way this week! Another RAGOM foster told me that she would be a completely different dog once her heat cycle ended, and that was a totally accurate statement. She is more relaxed and housetraining is going great. Her personality is beginning to shine. She remains sweet and affectionate, and now I am seeing the more of the playful side of her emerge. Ivy took a trip to the groomer and did very well. She enjoyed the car ride to get there and she has no problems getting in and o...

Introducing Ivy, a beautiful, cream-colored Golden Retriever. Ivy spent much of her early life in a commercial breeding facility. She made her way to a home situation for several months along with her littermate, Izzy (23-279). That family surrendered both dogs to RAGOM. Ivy has been in foster care for a little over a month. When she arrived, she was pretty anxious after all the changes in her young life. She had just started to settle in when she entered a heat cycle just prior to her scheduled...
