Abby is a beautiful 5 year old, 72 pound purebred Golden. She came from a loving home where she lived with children and cats. Abby gets along well with other dogs. She is an absolutely sweet and happy girl!

Abby is house trained and kennel trained. She is able to stay in a kennel for a full work day, though she much prefers to be around her people. Abby doesn’t require a fence. At her previous home, she simply wandered around the yard when let outside.

Abby knows several commands. In her short time in foster care, she has shown off her ability to come, sit and shake. Abby also knows “no” and doesn’t jump up on the living room furniture until she knows it’s okay. Abby responds well to using a gentle leader on walks; without it she will sometimes pull on the leash.

Abby is accustomed to sleeping on the bed at night. She does well in the car, has no known anxieties, and doesn’t display any resource guarding with food or toys. Abby is a great retriever. Saying that she loves tennis balls is an understatement! Abby will bring a ball or toy to you over and over in hopes that you’ll throw it for her.

A behavior Abby is working on is staying calm when guests arrive. She tends to get very excited when guests come over, but calms down after a few minutes. In her new foster home, using a treat as positive reinforcement for remaining calm has helped with this behavior.

Abby’s visit to the vet after coming to RAGOM went really well. She is healthy except for an ear infection. She is on ear drops until November 20, and after that she’ll need to return to the vet to make sure the infection has cleared.
