This is the most recent information available; however, it may change as we learn more about the dog.

Let’s give a warm RAGOM welcome to the lovely and sweet Alli! This 17-month-old PB mama and her ten puppies came from a breeder who was retiring due to health issues. We have really enjoyed watching this shy dog blossom and learn to enjoy life.

Alli has grown so much in the time we have had her: she goes up and down steps, does her business outside in the backyard, plays with people and our resident dog, and has learned how nice it is to sleep in a bedroom by people. She is healthy and weighs about 55 pounds.

Alli’s favorite things are to play with our resident dog and be right by our side. She loves to rest her head on our feet while we read or type at the computer. Much appreciated during this cold snap!

What areas still need work for this young dog? Alli has not learned to go to the bathroom while on a leash. We honestly have not worked on this much, with ten puppies to attend to. Alli doesn’t pull and barely weaves in and out of the walker’s legs, so I believe this will resolve quickly with some attention.

An alert bark is often heard when people enter the home, or when Alli sees any activity in neighboring yards when she is outside. She does quiet down with a verbal correction.

Alli is still on the shy side, especially when first meeting people. With all the folks stopping by due to the holidays and to meet the puppies, this has improved and should continue to do so with time and opportunities (more socialization). Alli enjoys mellow children and is restricted to families with kids over the age of ten.

Alli loves to walk around with a squeaky toy or piece of laundry in her mouth. She no longer shreds the socks and towels, but we do keep a close eye on her. There is no resource guarding. Her favorite squeaky is a red rubber box of French fries and is a hoot to see….we often think she is looking for ketchup!

What would Alli’s perfect new family and living situation look like?

  • She would have another medium-sized, medium-energy dog to play with
  • a fenced-in yard for romping (although she has good recall) - this allows her to play and be the puppy she is!
  • someone who is home most of the day. She is crate-trained and we leave her in the crate when gone for a few hours, but since she is such a people dog, I would hate for her to be alone an entire day.

The best word to describe this dog is “sweet.” It sums her up perfectly. Alli is young and has a lifetime of loyal companionship to share with her lucky new adopting family. She will be ready to be adopted after her spay surgery in early January.
