Profile

Amy arrived on Thursday evening. She was surrendered to RAGOM due to a change in circumstances in her owner's lives. She was owned by the same family for her whole nine years. She is a blond, spayed female seeming to be of good weight. According to her records, she is up to date on her shots but we still need to visit the vet in the next week for her wellness check. She met the resident golden plus the two standard poodles I was babysitting and all was well. She was snarked at by the older female poodle, but she acted appropriately so nothing more happened. The poodles left the next day and all has been peaceful since.

She made it through a work-day on Friday...which at my house means an eight-hour work day with an hour freedom at lunch. She came with a crate and the surrendering owner says she goes into the crate when nobody is home and so far we've been sticking to that. She goes right into the crate. In fact, she does whatever you tell her....come, sit, down....she is a very nice dog.

She ignores the cat and is moderately interested in the house rabbit, but not intensely interested. I'll write more as I get to know her. First impressions are that she's a great dog, young acting for nine-years-old, I'll know more next update as I'll know her better.

Amy was adopted this morning by a family that has adopted from RAGOM before. They had recently lost their senior and their remaining dog wasn't very happy being the sole dog. Amy and her bubbly personality will surely liven up the situation for both the humans and the dog. Amy was in foster care for three months. We miss her already but are happy knowing she has a super new home.

A group of Girl Scouts gave Amy a blanket and two new toys at Petco last weekend. Amy wants those girls to know she LOVES her new toys and so does her foster brother Finnegan!  Thanks so much for sharing with them!

Amy has settled into our routine quite nicely. She is used to dogs coming and going and she's good at co-existing with other dogs. Right now, she has a lab foster sister from another rescue, as well as the part-time resident senior female golden and the full-time golden young guy to contend with. She has decided not to quarrel with the lab and she gets along nicely with the goldens. She attended another RAGOM event last weekend and while she charmed many people, nobody has expressed interest...

Good news from Amy! We went to the vet for yet another recheck on her yeast issues...and everything is all cleared up! She will be on a maintenance dose of ear drops...once a day...a few drops of an inexpensive drying agent to prevent a recurrence of infection and a weekly cleaning...and she's good to go. She is also now up to date on shots. She is just a great dog to foster. She has been on many long walks and she walks very nicely...wearing a Gentle Leader. She pulls pretty hard wearing he...

Amy is still here. Last week we took care of three other dogs so things were pretty hectic around here. One of the visitors was an adolescent poodle that still had all his parts, he spent a good part of the week first trying to hump my young guy, then when my young guy started staying far away from him, trying to hump Amy....she finally told him to STOP but it took her several days to get to that point. Once they left, we started the work-week so it's been fairly boring around here since. Sh...

Amy continues to do well in foster care. No surprises this week. She gets along with everyone she meets and she loves her belly rubs. She does wrestle daily with my young guy. She has a ton of energy for a nine-year-old and I still find it hard to believe she is that old. With the proper outlet for her energy, she will be a great dog for a family that wants a senior. She stayed home for a full workday last Friday, so I know she can do that, although she was pretty wound up when I finally did get...

Amy's having a good time in foster care. We keep her fairly busy which is good for her. She went to the vet for a follow-up on her ears and foot this past week and instead of getting the all-clear we were hoping for, we got more meds. We get to keep treating her ears and foot for another two weeks and go back for yet another re-check. Yeast infections are very common with golden retrievers and seasoned golden owners should not be deterred because of it. She is very compliant, when you get th...

Amy continues to do well in foster care. She is a very young nine and loves to play and wrestle with my three-year-old golden. Amy likes to shadow the cat around but if my cat were at all scared, she would put an end to that and she doesn't. So all is well. The dogs seem to love all the snow...the humans in my house are sick of it, but it's fun to watch Amy and Finn romp and wrestle and roll in the fresh snow. Amy loves to be petted, but she will not get up on the furniture, even if invi...

Hello all, Amy here - just wanted to let you know I really like RAGOM events. You can tell by the new photos (above) that I'm a happy girl. I got dropped off in Richfield early before the event at my new friend Jeff's. FM was busy spreading cheer with foster brother Finn and she knew I would not want to miss any of the event so I got to ride with my new pal. I met all three of the resident dogs - we all got along fine. Jumped in the car at 11 and off we went. I found out all th...

Amy visited the vet today and came away with a good bill of health....just ear infections and a yeast infection on one of her feet, between her toes. She weighs 66 pounds. She looks to be in good shape. She is now microchipped and has been vaccinated against bordatello. She is up to date on everything else, at least for now. Amy has a perfect temperament and she has been a great addition to our household. She is helping us adjust after the death of one of the resident dogs. Lucky (Ragom #98-95)...
