Angel is a beautiful 9 month old Golden Retriever mix. All day long I've been trying to take photos that will show you one of the most remarkable features about her, but I don't think I've succeeded just yet. The thing about Angel that I want to show you is her size. Before I met Angel a few people had described her to me as a "miniature Golden Retriever." It's hard to imagine what that might look like...but I thought I had a pretty good idea. When Angel walked up to me for the first time, I was stunned by how much she looked like about a 5 or 6 month old Golden Retriever puppy. She is so petite, at 30lbs and when you look at her, it's hard to remember that she's actually 9 months old!
Given that she looks like a puppy, the second thing you notice about Angel is how calm and sweet she is for a dog that looks so young. Angel is a sweet girl who loves attention, and adores being petted and snuggled with - and in fact this afternoon Angel and I snuggled on the family room floor and took a nap together.
It also won't take you long after meeting Angel to notice that she's a little shy of new things at first. Angel doesn't seem to have been exposed to too much so far in her 9 months, but being around her for only a short time I can tell you I feel lucky to be able to introduce her to the wonders of the world. Watching Angel perk up and watch the resident dogs chase after a tennis ball, or watching her figure out that you're calling her to you for love and attention, makes you feel like you're experiencing the joys of the world right along with her. In fact, it IS like having a puppy and watching them discover their world for the first time!
So far we know that Angel gets along with dogs, loves people, and does fine with our cat. Angel is so laid back, and sweet as can be.
Next week Angel will go to the vet to be spayed and microchipped. Check back soon for updates on Angel as we get to know her over the next couple of days. She's a unique girl in that she's the best of both worlds - a wonderfully sweet Golden Retriever, and small enough to cuddle up with you in bed, or sit with you in a chair.
