Profile

Please welcome Joe 15-226 to RAGOM. Joe was a stray brought into a shelter in northwest Minnesota. He was very stressed in the shelter environment. Little else was know about Joe. He was surrendered to RAGOM in hopes that a foster home would be a much better place for him.

Joe managed to catch a ride on another transport and I picked him up in St Cloud. Joe seemed very at ease after coming from a stressful situation. Joe rode nice in the truck and did very well meeting my resident girl Belle and my 2 cats. I had to "doctor" his food to get him to eat it. Not unusual for the first few meals.

That first night, I brought him in the bedroom and closed the door. He panted for a few minutes and then went to sleep. He was quiet all night! The next morning we were up early to get Joe to the vet for a RAGOM wellness check and to be updated on all vaccines, and Frontline. Joe tested negative for Heartworm, Lyme and several other diseases. His only somewhat bad thing was that he has hookworms and tapeworm. The worms are easily treatable with 3 doses over 6 weeks. He will have to be tested for the worms again after the treatments are done. Other than the worms, Joe is a very healthy boy.

Joe was given free roam of the house the second night after passing a 2 hour alone test that evening when we went out for supper. Joe hasn't had any "accidents" in the house. He scratches on the door to come in. I think it is safe to say that Joe lived in a house at least some of his previous life. Joe's teeth are very worn for a dog his age. I'm guessing he was kept in a outdoor chain link kennel that he chewed on. Joe has not chewed on anything inappropriate since he has been here. Joe appears to be a very well behaved boy!

Joe has been adopted into his forever home where the resident girl, Belle 14-056, has kidney failure and not a lot of time left before she crosses the Rainbow Bridge. Joe's personality seems to be a good match for the household.

Watch for updates in "Happy Endings."
