Profile

Sam is an 8-year-old, gorgeous Golden Retriever mix (his surrendering owner stated that he is mixed with Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever)! He has such soft fur with beautiful markings on his chest and feet and gorgeous feathering!

Sam was adopted from RAGOM 5 years ago, and recently returned to RAGOM after the SO's (surrendering owner's) young daughter climbed on him and he mouthed her, leaving a scratch on her cheek. For this reason, Sam will be adopted out to a family with older children.

Sam is about as calm as they come! He loves to lay down and chill for hours on end if you will let him, and LOVES to snuggle. On the flip side, Sam gets really excited when he gets to go on his daily walks and run around the back yard. He does the most adorable little “pounce” when he gets very excited. Sam knows basic commands (sit, shake, lay down, heel) and is very much a people pleaser! Sam also has free roam of the house during the work day and is always waiting by the door with tail wagging when we get home! He does great in a crate if needed and respects baby gates. Sam is house-trained and will let you know he needs to go outside by nudging you with his nose, and if that doesn’t work you might get a couple dog kisses to get your attention!

Last week while mowing the lawn, Sam would make his way around the house to “watch” through the windows – he was very intrigued by what was going on.

Sam and our RD (Resident Dog) have not warmed up to each other yet. The SO (surrendering owner) stated that Sam would sometimes have aggression issues with other dogs, but not all. We are hopeful that the two will come around soon!

Sam is UTD on all vaccines and is in great health according to his vet visit! Sam is such a great dog and will be a great addition to your household!

Our sweet Sammy passed away in February of 2020. He was diagnosed with T-cell lymphoma early in 2020 and did not have much time after that.Sammy was the joy that graced every space he entered, and time stopped when he passed, life inched along in slow motion and the only thing that came quickly were the tears from losing the physical presence of our best friend. There is no relationship better than the canine human bond – it surpasses words, for sure!Sammy lives on in our hearts, minds and...

Sam is absolutely loving the fall weather, including rolling around in the leaves and the smell of the farm fields (we all know that smell) around our house as they prep for winter. Sam has also taken an interest to laying in the big white chair that sits in front of our picture window; watching all the people, dogs and birds pass by in the afternoons and evenings, or just to take a little nap. He is such a mellow boy!Sam also has some exciting news to share! He has a potential adopting family!...

Sam continues to delight us during his stay at our home and has taken a liking to his Foster parents' bed during the day while we are at work and loves finding his spot on the couch. His SO (surrendering owner) stated that he got to sleep in bed with them, so it must feel like a special treat during the day!Sam got to go on a couple of car rides this past weekend and absolutely LOVED it! He sits so nice in the car and loves to rest his head on the center console and nap when the drive gets too...

Original bio - August, 2011Meet Booster!  A HUGE thanks to Elwyn, Sue O., and Christi T. for bringing him to me all the way from Fargo, ND.  Booster is a 2 year old male golden mix, who was surrendered to RAGOM by a family that loved him very much.  Unfortunately, they hit a bumpy road and due to a job loss, they had to move to an apartment where they weren't able to take him with.  RAGOM is happy to step in and help this sweet boy find a new Fur...
