Bud arrived last week from South Dakota in time for the long holiday weekend. Many thanks to his guardian angels for getting him to the cities safely! He is absolutely beautiful and has a wonderful personality to match. Bud was liberated from spending his days locked in a barn, and was covered head-to-toe in wood ticks. Since his arrival to RAGOM, he has been brought up to date on vaccinations, had a bath and all the ticks are gone, microchipped and neutered. Bud is two years old, has a minor ear infection but otherwise is in great health. He has a stunning coat, beautiful white teeth and almost prances when he walks.
Bud came to RAGOM from a bad living situation, but he must have been loved by someone, because he is a confident, playful, loving, happy boy with a great temperament. Bud and my resident Mia play with toys, chase each other, wrestle in the yard, play bow, butts wiggling like crazy, and then they crash and take a nap together…..touching feet or heads or anything. Soooo cute! He has lots of puppy energy but is eager to please and listens very well. We were at the cabin this weekend and he watched Mia swim in the lake, but wouldn't even put his feet in the water. Mia splashed him a few times and after about 30 minutes, he finally wandered in and fished a bit. I don't think he has ever seen a lake before because he was very curious and careful.
He is potty trained, but marked a few times when he first arrived. Bud does not like to be crated, however is crated when home alone, and as long as he has a kong filled with treats, he does ok but is not happy about it. He sleeps in my bedroom, and would LOVE to sleep on my bed but he gets to sleep on a dog bed with Mia. :) Bud is carrying a toy in his mouth almost all the time. He rearranges the toys in the house, and loves to retrieve. He loves kids, and dogs and everyone he has met. This is one special boy, that will melt your heart!

Back in 2012 we saw Bud on the RAGOM site and after some hoping & praying we were notified he was available to be seen. After driving to see him, there was NO question in our minds he was a perfect fit for our family. We adopted him as a 2–3-year-old energetic, fun-filled goofball to fill a void left from the passing of 2 former goldens. Our girls quickly started spoiling this little boy and Bud quickly became the center of our world. After a brief period of him “marking” everything including the carpet cleaner he settled right into our home. We’re so going to miss the walks, deep barks to let us know someone was here, opening of presents (and almost anything else in reach) and snuggle time. We were so glad he blessed our world for so long.
Mr. Bud was a very soft warm-hearted snuggler with such a beautiful smile and if given the opportunity would gladly push his way into your spot on the bed giving you the look of “well you left”. He was certainly a creature of habit. When we first got Bud, him and I would go for early morning walks. God forbid if I didn’t get up in time to take him. He would jump up on the bed and start pulling the sheets off me, so that I would get up for the walk. He loved riding in the pick-up and especially the golf cart – I so wish I could have given him just one more ride. With the recent loss of Jazzy & now Budly our world & home is so empty. We hope the arthritis & stiffness is gone & you’re running wild having fun playing with Jazzy.

Bud was the first puppy I ever got to experience growing up with. I remember playing hide and seek with him for hours, waiting for him to come find me under the covers of my bed or in the bathroom closet. I'm gonna miss hearing your loud bark that took you so long to discover and those golden brown eyes that would look at you while you ranted about your day. I hope in Heaven there are several cars and golf carts you can ride in. The day we had to put you down was the hardest, which is why I can't wait to see you in Heaven.

Everyone needs a Mr. Bud in their life
I had never met a dog who could sit next to you and look at you as if he was listening / understanding every word you were saying. He was always there during my ups and downs, sticking by my side, giving me hugs, and making me laugh. A true friend, excited to greet you at the door with a toy or a pillow. It’s been a week since I said goodbye to my big fur baby but I know he’s no longer in pain and is running around with Jazzy.
Budders, you were my favorite hello and truly my hardest goodbye

Just a quick update on Bud. I can't believe I still have him! He is about the sweetest, most affectionate and beautiful foster I have ever cared for. Everyone that meets him falls in love, and think he is just stunning. Bud would do well in any home – with or without kids and with or without other dogs. He is a very social dog and really wants social interaction. If he is going to a home without kids or dogs, then he should have lots of people interaction and dog park visits or some other... He is by no means a needy dog, just a very happy and social boy. He is very interested in toys, and a smart guy that will get bored without lots of interaction.
Bud's one opportunity for improvement is that he is a counter surfer! We are working on this, and he no longer tries to get on the counters if anyone is in the room, but I can't leave any food anywhere on the counter or he finds a way to have a snack. He is quite agile. :)
