Buddy

Buddy got exactly what he wanted for Christmas - the perfect forever home, two people that adore him, even if he did his body slam on the first meeting, a fenced in yard and I believe all the love he can handle. The bonus was a back seat full of toys on the way home. Yes, I saw his head pop up with a duck in his mouth as he drove out of the driveway! K & K thought he was just perfect and I, of course agree.

I know Buddy is going to have a wonderful Christmas and New Year's, and now I will too.

Buddy continues to be a wonderful, playful, loving sweetheart. He is this silly wild man when he first meets someone, he just can't get close enough or be loved enough. He almost turns himself inside out for people. Everyone loves him. He is a very tall dog, so we are still working on him staying off, and calming down, so he doesn't knock someone into the next county! Once the initial greetings are over, he settles down into the calm boy that I know most of the time. And you can see by the new pictures, I've got proof!

Buddy loves Cadbury (the rabbit) and gives him kisses. Buddy actually loves everybody. He is great with cats, although Pearl (our cat) didn't appreciate the paw on the head the other day. It was Buddy's way of saying "Let's play!". Pearl's paw said, "Let's not!". Pearl won.

Every day Buddy gets to stretch his legs. Since our landscaped back yard is all frozen over, he gets to rip and tear in a half acre that is fenced in. He usually makes about 12-14 circles before his tongue is hanging out and he is ready to go in. He can really fly.

The other day, I was working in my art room, and I had a box of things I was going to go through, on the floor. There were 3 folded up paper towels in the box. Buddy picked up the first one and just started to rip it up, I told him no, that wasn't nice. He stopped immediately, then put his head back down, picked up the paper towel and brought it to me. I told him what a good boy he was, and loved him up. He then went back and picked up each of the other ones and brought them to me. This shows how much this guy wants to please. He had a visitor a few days after that, and he went back to the box, and brought her a piece of plastic, then came back with 3 packages of marigold seeds! I think I need to get that box gone through!!! He is just so sweet!

Buddy would love a forever home for Christmas. He has a list however of what he wants his home to be, and I agree totally.

** A home with a fenced in yard, or a home with adults that would take him out on a leash ONLY & ALWAYS and take him for lots of walks or runs. Children should be 10 or older, so he doesn't knock them over when he is in a bouncy mood.

** He needs to be appreciated for the wonderful dog that he is, and not be way down on the list of things to do.

** He needs lots of love and attention everyday. He loves to play and also loves to snuggle and get kisses.

It's a pretty short list - keep him safe and love him! And you will get sooooo much back! He would love you forever, try to do everything in his power to please you. If you wanted, he would love obedience or agility, or would just be your couch potato. A diamond ring can't do all that!!!

Buddy has returned to Balsam Lake after one week with a wonderful family. His new Dad discovered he was allergic to Buddy. His Mom brought him back and he was so excited to see Barry and me, but when he realized his mom had left, he was very sad.

The report on Buddy was nothing but great things. He went for walks with her, met some guys on the college football team that had never petted a dog before, and he spun his magic. He is truly a wonderful dog.

He got along great with her 4 cats, slept nicely on the couch and was a perfect gentleman in the house. So our quest is to find this wonderful boy a home just like he had, except no allergies!

Buddy went home today to live in Duluth! This means he is going to be an honorary BULLDOG! We are going to have to squint pretty hard, but we'll do that for the team!!

Buddy met his mom today and it was love, she is a wonderful lady that is going to give him the home, time and lots of love that this guy deserves. She saw all the wonderful qualities that he had to offer. He'll be walking the hills of Duluth and since he is a nice tall guy, he'll be able to help pull her up those hills too!

I got pretty attached to Buddy, but when it was time to go, he had his toy bag packed, and he was ready to go! He knew this was Mom. It is such a wonderful feeling.

Buddy would like to say thank you to everyone that came to see him at the picnic. He had a great day, and so did we! He did so well and was such a good boy. We were very proud of him.

Buddy just continues to do wonderfully. He is a great help in the boarding kennel. He never barks at anyone coming in, loves all the dogs that come in, actually too much, we do have to put him in the RAGOM ROOM, until the dogs are in their kennels. He just can't understand why little dogs don't like him bouncing around them! Or sometimes the bigger ones too!

When I am working up front, or go in the house for a while, Buddy will take his toys, sometimes 10 of them or so, and bring them back and play with them near the other dogs. He is so sweet. If a dog barks at him, he gets such a puzzled look, like he can't understand why everyone doesn't just love him.

Buddy is still such a puppy, but yet will settle down very quickly also. It's just when he is bouncing, look out! He is getting better all the time. He doesn't jump up on me any more, but sometimes when he is bouncing around he will run into me. That is the only reason I am suggesting no small children. I know he will outgrow this soon, he is so much better already.

Buddy would make a great running/walking partner. He is so athletic. And did I mention that he is just so sweet? There are times he looks at me with such sad eyes, like he is remembering things in his past. He gets lots and lots of hugs and kisses to try to make those moments go away.

He still hasn't gotten into anything that wasn't his, and doesn't seem to have any separation anxiety. I leave biscuits out that are nose level, in the kennel, and he has never touched them. We never leave anything on the kitchen counter that would entice a dog to go shopping, so problems don't arise there.

He doesn't have the best social graces with other dogs. He just wants to play and doesn't understand when a dog doesn't want to play back. As long as the dog is willing, it's great! But he will keep trying to get a dog to play. Our dogs are teaching him that no means no. But I won't promise he won't want to play with every dog he meets. Not a bad thing, just needs to learn. He gets this really cute look, as he is bouncing around in front of them, come on, it's fun, just play, you'll like it! Come on , come on.

I have a feeling this guy was a forgotten puppy. I don't think Buddy ever had any attention or guidance growing up. He didn't know things that a pup would know that had a loving puppyhood. But Buddy learns so fast and he wants to please so much that he is making up for it. He does break my heart at times. I want so much for him to be in a loving, nurturing home that will give him all the good things that every dog deserves. If Buddy would fit into your life and heart, please let RAGOM know.
