Chappy is a lovely, happy blonde six year old boy whose previous owners didn't have time for him. He has made his first trip to the vet in years, and he is now up-to-date on all of his shots, has had his heartworm test (negative), and got a manicure for his long nails. The only unhappy news from the vet is that they discovered he has Giardia, which is being treated with antibiotics and should be cleared up soon.
Chappy (or Charlie Chaplin, or Mr. Chapstick) is a bit on the pudgy side; he could stand to lose about 10 of the 74 pounds he currently carries. He has an adorable face, with just a touch of distinguished grey on his muzzle, and he really is a happy boy--and never more so than when he is getting the pets or attention that he clearly hasn't had for so long.
He is housebroken, has had obedience training, and will sit, stay, shake, and understands "no" very well. He has lived with children, although he does like to have the spotlight himself, and he gets along perfectly fine with the two resident Goldens, and tries to join in with their never-ending wrestling matches. He also does fine with the resident cat, fully understanding that the cat is the mayor of the house.
He LOVES sqeaky toys and tennis balls, and on our first trip to the dog park last weekend, he did really well, meeting and playing with new dogs with no problem whatsoever. He follows me everywhere, and loves sleeping at my feet while I am at my deesk, and at the side of the bed at night. He is a bit of a food hound, a little grabby when treats are offered, and something tells me that if I am not looking, he would be happy to try some counter surfing. He really is a gem of a dog, a very, very sweet boy, who is missing only one thing: someone to adore him back.
