We are happy to welcome Cody back into the Ragom family. He was originally found as a stray last Spring in Iowa and had heartworm and other infections. His infections were treated successfully and he was adopted. Sadly his adopted family recently returned him to Ragom because they thought he was too intense and they did not like that he would run away while on walks.
Cody is a healthy 2 to 3 year old Golden Retriever mix. He weighs about 50 lbs and has white streaks throughout his coat. We have been fostering Cody for about a week now and we know three things for sure:
There is no doubt that Cody is a puppy. He has all sorts of energy for walks and chasing balls. When excited for walks he does a little jumping but not overbearing. He does walk ahead of us on walks but is not really a puller- just very curious and very busy placing his marks. He is totally house trained. Does not beg. He knows the commands for sit, down, shake, drop it, and no. Seems eager to please.
I think Cody would do best in a family as an only dog without other pets and probably no small children. He will need someone to provide him plenty of opportunities for exercise-especially walks and fetch. He will make anyone a great companion.
