Profile
Copper arrived at my home last night and is starting to settle in. He is a gorgeous golden/red color as you can see in the photos. Copper is a little over 2 years old, and was surrendered due to financial difficulties of his family. He has lived with several dogs and small children and is completely housebroken.
Copper's personality is the typical Velcro Golden. He follows me from room to room and is very excited to get attention. Copper also is the typical 2 year old -- he has a lot of energy and is very playful. His excitement does lead him to jump up on people and furniture. I've been working with him on this and he's gotten better even after a day, but his new family will need to help with this, too. Copper has a very sweet personality and is very submissive to me and my husband. We put a Gentle Leader on him last night, and although he fought it at first, he eventually was ok with it and had a nice walk this morning. We put Copper in his crate today while I was at work, and he went in fine with a treat for encouragement. He also kept his crate clean for 10 hours!! Poor boy, I hadn't meant to leave him that long, but couldn't get home earlier. Tomorrow he will graduate to free roam of the kitchen, and I'm sure he'll do fine. Copper also takes treats very gently from my hand, knows "sit" and comes to his name.
Copper is up to date on all his shots and had a good check-up at the vet. He weights 76 pounds, which is a tiny bit overweight, but he still looks really good. Copper does have a slight ear infection in his right ear, so I have ear drops to put in twice a day. The infection should be cleared up in 10-12 days.
I will write more as I get to know him better. All in all, Copper is a friendly, energetic boy who is looking for his forever home!
