Profile

1/8/07: Dakota has made it to Alexandria. We are happy to have him. Dakota is a two-year old neutered male Golden Retriever. He is house trained and crate trained.

Dakota was turned in because he has had a few seizures and has been doing some counter surfing. Dakota is on Phenobarbital for the seizures and we are working on his training for the counter surfing.

Dakota needs to eat his food elevated otherwise he may have trouble swallowing and end up emptying his tummy! Dakota's personality is a typical Golden. He loves to be by people, he loves to play with our resident Lab, and he thinks he is a lap-dog, as the pictures show. We enjoy having him, as he is an easy foster. Dakota has been to the vet and is a little overweight.

If you have a New Year's resolution to get a good, trainable, dog--and also want a work-out buddy--then Dakota is the dog for you! Contact Placement if you want to learn more!

Hi,  I needed to let you know that my handsome Dakota passed away on 12/27/2017. It was a very difficult decision to let him go. The U, my vet, and I could not get his seizing to stop. Miss him very much.

He came to me with the seizures and I was his 4th attempt at a home. He was ‘my guy’ as soon as I met him.

The U (Dr. McVey) wasn’t sure he would it much past 5 years due to the severity of the seizures. We all worked together and Dakota made it to just shy of 13. What an amazing pup!

Such a gentle soul that taught me to stop and smell the roses. He was an amazing Golden.
