This is the most recent information available; however, it may change as we learn more about the dog. |
Let me introduce myself. My name is Darbee, and I entered RAGOM through Love a Golden Rescue in St. Louis, MO, who thankfully rescued me off Craigslist. I am a 2-year-old male and I am a Golden mix. From what they know, it is with Great Pyrenees. My coat is not the best, but I am now on a good dog food and taking fish oil in both my AM and PM meals, and I know that it will get to where is should be in time. I am a little skinny. I weigh 41 lbs. and Foster Mom is feeding me a little more at each meal to put a few lbs. on me. The good doctor that I went to told Foster Mom that I do need to gain a few lbs., but I should never be over 50 lbs.
I was a little skittish when I first came here and would not come to my name. I have since learned that coming to my name means lots of pets and scritches that I just love. If I am not playing with the resident small dog Peanut, then I am following Foster Mom around EVERYWHERE. The second she sits on the couch, I am right up there with her. That certainly means more pets and loving. Speaking of playing with Peanut, I really need to go to a furever home where I will have a playmate who will tolerate all of my playing. Especially outside, Peanut and I play, play, play, and run, run, run. I have lots and lots and lots of energy to burn.
This is my resident friend Peanut. We play ALL the time.
A couch is a terrible thing to waste!
The kitty issue is a work in progress. I am very interested in the cats, but not as prey. I just am not sure what those little things are who will not play with me. I am getting way better about not chasing them, but once in a while, I forget.
When I need to go potty, sometimes I will go the the back door and whine. Other times I will go to the back door, and if no one knows I am back there, then I will pace up and down the hall and "go find" someone. I am crate trained. When Foster Mom has to go to work (and that is not every day), I am crated, and I am crated at night. One of the reasons I am crated at night is because I tend to like to start playing during the night and the three older resident Goldens, for some reason, do not appreciate that. (Peanut is crated at night so I cannot play with her.) So it is best right now that I am crated at night. Foster Mom and Foster Dad have to use a high-value treat when I am crated, or any other reason for that matter, because I am not really interested in the normal old dog treats. Right now they are using bits of hot dogs, which I really like.
I know "sit" and "down." I do know "no" when it comes to the cats, but Foster Mom and Foster Dad have not had any reason to use "no" in any other situation. I do very well on car rides. Foster Dad walked me down on a leash to get the mail the other day, and I did pretty well. I did pull a little, but not bad. I don't know what I would do with woobies (soft dog toys) because there are not any here. Peanut would tear them all up and a previous RAGOM resident (now a Bridge girl) would actually eat them, so they were all taken up. However, there is A LOT of hard bones, Nylabones, balls, and deer antlers to chew on. I have not really been very interested in them. I did take a bone up on the couch once and chew on it. I would much rather be playing with Peanut or being where Foster Mom is. :)
I am a real sweety, or so I am told all the time, so it must be true. If you have a way for me to burn off all my energy, another dog so I can play, play, play, and run, run, run with them, and want all the loving you can get, then I am the perfect pupper for you.
