Welcome to RAGOM Miss Dixie! Here's what we know about Dixie so far...-She has a lot of typical lab puppy energy! She really loves a good playtime with another energetic dog and loves interacting with humans. Really, there might never be enough good playtime for Dixie. -She's also still in the puppy "chewing" phase. She enjoys chewing on a variety of things but is easily re-directed and doesn't mind switching out what she's got for a more appropriate item.-She is learning about leashes and how to walk with her human friends. She's a quick study and gets a little better each time out. We are going to continue with a harness as she is pretty strong and this makes a walk more enjoyable.-She's an enthusiastic greeter, which might put some people off. She likes to jump as she greets people. But she does calm down and is such a sweet dog. She's definitely worth the wait.-Dixie seems very smart. She's been working on clicker training and is responding very well to that. Also, she is very treat-motivated so she should be easy to keep training. She would benefit from obedience but she will catch on quickly!-Dixie has been doing really well in her crate at night and for a few hours during the day. I think she could sleep on her own in the future, but she's presently not wanting to do stairs at our house, so she sleeps on the main floor in a crate without complaint. Watch for future stair updates... we're taking that slowly for now. She does do a few stairs out to our back yard. Sometimes she just skips the stairs entirely and jumps off the top step! What is Dixie looking for in her forever family? She will need a lot of exercise and room to run. She also really needs a family that wants to continue training her. We think it would be best if she had a fenced back yard. She can really work a lot of energy off chasing balls and throwing toys around. Because of Dixie's exuberance and size (she's approx. 50 pounds and maybe still growing?), we think she would do best in a house with kids 10+. Otherwise, she might knock smaller children over and smother them with puppy kisses.Dixie can entertain potential adopters now and will be available for adoption as soon as she is spayed and recovering in the next two weeks. Please contact Placement if you are interested in meeting her.
