Duci (who we have nicknamed Zoe as she responds to that name) arrived at my home today. She met my resident dog Sophie (Cowgirl 08-401) with just a little growling. She also met several of the staff at my apartment complex. They all just loved her. She is a golden mix. She is a tiny girl - she only weighs 26 pounds. You can't really tell in the photos but she is about half the size of Sophie. She is just a beautiful golden brown color.
Duci/Zoe came from a shelter in Missouri along with two other dogs. Thanks so much to the wonderful transport folks who brought her all that way. These volunteers really go above and beyond. She came to another foster's home (one with two large active dogs) on Saturday. Then it was discovered that Miss Zoe not only had Kennel cough but she also has heartworm. When she begins treatment she will need to be in a very quiet environment so she moved to my house. My dog Sophie is a very quiet senior and there are no young children so it was thought that it would be a quieter recuperation here.
Miss Zoe will be unavailable during her heartworm treatment and following that she will need to be spayed. She goes to the vet tomorrow for further tests and to find out what kind of treatment she will need. Please keep your paws crossed for this sweetheart as she will not be feeling great for awhile. It is estimated that she is between 1-2 years old even though she looks like a puppy. We will keep you updated on her progress and when she will be available. If you are patient, she will make someone a wonderful companion.
