Welcome Dusty to our RAGOM family!
Dusty is a very light buff colored labradoodle, who is approximately 6 months old. He came in with his two brothers, after being surrendered from a breeder who could not get them sold. He is not UTD and will be taken to the vet for a complete exam and vaccinations yet this week.
This galumpaficious (yes this is a made up word that describes him perfectly) guy is too cute for words. I swear his bones and joints are made of rubber bands the way he wiggles and waggles. Dusty was extremely stressed when he came in, so I let him spend a couple of days resting quietly, although I did give a bath, because man he needed it! With rest, food, and love he is quickly learning what it means to be a dog! He can now go through doors and up and down stairs with a little coaxing, loves to be outside on his tie out, and eats well. He already loves to tease me by dancing just out of reach of the leash and tie out, but he responds immediately to no, has already started to answer to come, and has made no attempt to leave the yard when he beat me out the door before I got his lead on him.
Since he is a puppy he has attempted to chew some items that are not on any approved chewing list, but stopped immediately when I told him no. I am learning to read his “I need to potty signals” and he is doing well with potty training. This morning we went for our first leash walk with resident dog showing him how it is done. With a few treats and a little coaxing he stopped bucking the leash and off we went. We walked for a good 10-15 minutes, not bad for his first time on a leash and he really enjoyed it.
I think this boy will be a great addition to a family who is willing to take him to obedience training, has a resident dog to show him the ropes and has lots of love and patience for this galumpaficious guy!
