RAGOM would like to welcome our newest addition Gabby. That is what she was called from her previous owner. She is believed to be a Golden Retriever mix but looks all golden except her nose looks a little long.
I would like to say thank you so much to the transport team for getting Gabby here to us. She had a very long ride to get to us. RAGOM volunteers are the best.
I would also like to thank Gabby's previous owner for giving RAGOM this very special puppy. I know you loved her very, very much. I can tell because she is just a little cuttle bug, and she wants to be by me all the time. Gabby has been with us now for almost 48 hours. The first night was Sunday and I had her by my side all night because I have 3 cats and I did not know how she would be around them. Well, she passed with flying colors. My one cat walked right up to her and went between her legs and she did not move. The other 2 hissed at her and she backed up. Good girl. I volunteered to only temp foster Gabby until someone could take her into their home to perm foster her, but when she got here and did not bother the cats and was a little wild (you would be too if you've been in the car from 10 in the morning until almost 6 at night) and she looked at me with those beautiful eyes and smiled, I think she was saying thank you for inviting me into your home.
Gabby gets along just great with our black lab. So far she is not afraid of anything or anyone. She loves to play but that is typical of a 9 month old puppy, but I have to say she settles down just great. I was so surprised Sunday night after being outside for about 2 hours that when 11 PM came I told her she has to go to bed now and I put a treat into her crate and in she went and whined for about 5 minutes and she slept until 6 AM without a peep. Now that's a very good girl, because I got to sleep until then too. She slept through the second night the same but did not whine. I believe she had some kind of a routine before.
Gabby is so far house broken, no accidents but of course I do not give her a chance to fail. She loves being outside. She has free roam of the house when we are home and crated at night and when we are gone.
Gabby came to us with all her shots updated. Thank you so much SO. She is now microchiped and will be spayed next Tuesday. She passed her physical with flying colors. Gabby only weighs 45 pounds so she is a little petite, but the cutest thing you will ever see. Her pictures do not do her justice. I tried to get some good pictures of her but she loves the snow (which she loves to eat) and she wants to play, play, play with my lab who is 9 years old. So hopefully in the next few days I can get some more.
There are a few things I would love for her in her new furever home:
A fenced in yard, only because she loves to explore and smells everything and gets on a trail and forgets where she is.
Second would be obedience training, she listens very well so she will be easy to train. She loves treats so that is a plus.
Third she does not need another dog to keep her company but you would have to give her alot of attention if you don't have another dog. She listens very well when my black lab is not around.
Fourth would be lots and lots of love, she loves to please you. She wants to be a lap dog and wants to be up in the bed with you .
I don't know about kids yet but I feel she would be fine as long as you train her to stay down. She is only wild when you let her out of her crate.
Look back after this weekend for some more pictures.
