Welcome Ginger to RAGOM.
Ginger was found wandering around in a small town in Iowa. She spent a short time in a shelter and was brought home by a Good Samaritan who notified RAGOM. For me, it was love at first sight - how could I say no to that cute Golden face.
Not much is known about her background other than she has a microchip which leads back to a large scale breeder in Iowa.
When she first arrived, she was friendly, but a bit shy and immediately decided our mudroom was her safe place. The first few days, I had to just about drag her out for her walks and she could hardly wait to get back to her corner. One of the first days, I let her loose on my front porch to take a picture and she immediately went and scratched at our door.
She is very friendly and gives you light kisses when you pet her, but she is very skittish about leaving her nest on her favorite blanket.
Every day, she is showing more confidence and is starting to leave her corner on her own and will come out if you call her. She is easy to walk on a leash with a flat collar but will only venture so far before she insists on going back home. We have started a game in which when she signals it's time to return, we run as fast as we can back home. I did have her in a fenced area and she really enjoyed trotting around and rolling on her back for belly rubs.
