Goose has made the long trip from Iowa to Minnesota and the start of his GOLDEN life. His owners lost their home and surrendered him to Ragom. Goose does have a rather strange name but I believe it is fitting. He is so "silly".
He is an older mature fellow of 10 years with a distinguished looking face. He is a bit chunky at 91 pounds and looks as wide as he is long. He has untreated hypothyroidism which adds to his girth. Goose's ears are badly infected and may have been for an extended period of time. Sometimes I wonder how well he is able to hear. To add to his challenges he also has a yeast infection of the skin leaving him with thin coat, balding and exceptionally dry skin that appears leathery. He also itches and we have started meds to help control the discomfort. Through all of this he is sweet and dear. Truly a Velcro boy that enjoys his human folks.
Goose will be monitored by our local vet as we start thyroxine for his thyroid, continue to treat his ear infections, and work to resolve his skin condition. We are choosing to place him on a hypoallergenic diet. Goose also has had two lumpectomies and we are hopeful the results will be negative. Keep following this sweet boy as we strive to return him to good health!
