Miss Bailey is a returning RAGOM dog, very happy-go-lucky and playful. Her family had become very busy and were not able to give Bailey the attention she needed and deserved and made the difficult decision to ask RAGOM to find a home that would allow Bailey to flourish. So that's our mission - we're all about helping Bailey blossom and find a household that can give her a bit of a routine and the attention she wants.
Bailey is approaching three years and she's a lovely medium darkish golden color. She doesn't have a very thick coat right now but her coat shines and is a rich color. Bailey has a few endearing habits that we've already come to enjoy. She's a talkative gal - talks quietly to let you know she'd like a treat, a bit stronger when she's trying to talk you into letting her sleep on the bed, and even louder if you missed an earlier sign that she'd like to go outside. In the week that she's been here she hasn't had any accidents and quickly figured out the routines and settled in. She has made great friends with our resident dogs and now it's not unusual to find two or three of them playing together, tugging on a toy or just chasing each other in the back yard. Bailey went for walks in her earlier life and spent some time on a tie out in the yard as well. We have a large fenced yard and she seems to enjoy romping and exploring, sniffing all the special scents that only dogs can find. Bailey pulls initially when she's on a leash but we think that with more experience together we will all do better.
Bailey goes to the vet tomorrow for her wellness exam and we're pretty sure the vet is going to firmly suggest that Bailey drop a few pounds. She's so sweet and silly that I can see that she's probably earned quite a few treats -- she just expects the best from people and I think snacks might be a way of life that she's enjoyed, but then isn't that true for all of us? Bailey has one habit that we're already working on with some initial success. She's a counter surfer, and a very fast one at that! So far, if we catch her in the act she will drop the precious item after a stern 'NO" but if she's already started to enjoy the treat then she is quite growly and not at her best. She walked into my closet and came out with a shoe which she quickly dropped with the "NO" command. We've also caught her trying to chomp on the roll of toilet paper in the bathroom and again, walked away after 'NO' but that one was hard as it just made us laugh! She's figuring out the rules and boundaries and really doing very well.
Bailey loves to go for a ride, has the golden retriever nudge down pat and follows her people around the house. As I type, she's sitting by my feet waiting for me to come to my senses and realize that it's time to eat! Here are a few picture - the one of Bailey taking a nap on the treadmill is my favorite!
Bailey is spayed, up-to-date on her shots. We'll have more to share after she gets back from tomorrow's vet appointment! Please stay tuned, this girl is a real sweetie!
