This sweet boy had been with me for only about five hours when our picture was taken--and you can see that the love in his eyes almost jumps out of the picture. The exact circumstances of Howie's past are unknown, but his owner said he turned him over to RAGOM so that he would finally have a chance to get the love and affection that he deserves. This, after being chained up outside for the last two years!

Howie is a 7-year old purebred (no papers) neutered male who has a beautiful reddish colored coat and weighs about 65 pounds. He is just learning how to walk on leash and needs work on basic commands, however, this is coming along fine as he is very smart.

There was a little initial posturing between my male and Howie for the first five minutes, but now they get along fine. He is fascinated with the cat, but it isn't a mutual thing so Howie quickly learned to give her plenty of space

During a check-up at the vet, Howie tested positive for lymes (non-symptomatic, placed on Doxycyline and given a preventive) and she found a cyst on his left flank. He had the cyst removed yesterday and is doing great navigating through the house wearing one of those big plastic collars. When he gets stuck, he promptly backs up and has another go at it...

It is obvious that Howie hasn't spent much time in a vehicle and although he jumps right in, sometimes I hear him back there making a low grumbling noise--just like a kid asking, "Aren't we there yet?"

Normally, I prefer to foster senior females (like myself), but Howie and I connected the minute he walked through the door. I've made a couple of promises to the boy--that he would never ever wear a chain again and that I would find him a wonderful family to love and that would love him for the rest of his life.
