Ike is a most wonderful 12 year old purebred Golden Retriever, who was surrendered only because of a family health issue in his surrendering owners' home. He had lived with surrendering owner for over 10 years, and it was a difficult surrender because he is such a sweet and loving boy!
Ike has the energy of a much younger boy, and he is rarely without something in his mouth. Most often it is a tennis ball, but if a tennis ball is not nearby, he'll pick up a stray sock, dish towel, or whatever he can retrieve and carry. Ike LOVES to play fetch, his first night with us, FM must have thrown the ball over 30 times!
He is very polite, rarely barks, doesn't go on furniture, and quickly does his business when he is let outside. He seems happy to be wherever his people are. He's become quite comfortable with two dog beds we have in the house, and follows FM up to bed each night to sleep on the floor, right next to her.
He is learning how to behave on walks, as he was not walked frequently before surrender. FD takes him on walks each day, along with our own RAGOM boy, Guinness. Ike is working at not pulling on his walks, and with continued training he'll get the hang of it soon.
Ike did arrive with a large mass on his back right leg, which was cancerous. The good news?! The tumor was successfully removed and there were no other signs of cancer anywhere. Don't be turned away from this wonderful dog due to his "senior" status. He will make a wonderful addition to your family and home.
