12/21/06: Jeeter is about nine months old. She is being fostered in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She is a sweet fluffy Golden girl who just wants to please. Jeeter is a typical early adolescent. She has energy and the desire to explore everything, but she is also learning new things very quickly.

Yesterday, we practiced walking on the leash with a Gentle Leader and she did awesome. She also seemed a little afraid of cars, but she also seemed to want to chase them. I walked her by the church parking lot and she quickly lost interest when I showed her that she could just ignore the cars and keep walking. Jeeter is also getting to be a good sitter, and the more that she adjusts to her new environment the less she is jumping up.

Jeeter definitely has the Golden trait of loving to rip up toys to get the squeeky out. The ripping up seems to be restricted to toys because I noticed that she also likes to collect my things and hoard them by her crate. I finally found my wallet in a pile of Jeeter's toys and was able to buy my much needed cup of coffee before work. (Oh, she also ripped up a water bill I accidentally left on the kitchen table, but I did not want to pay it anyway.)

Jeeter has been left home alone with restricted access to the kitchen and basement. She has been home for four hours by herself (with her foster brother) and she does fine. She will make a wonderful companion. I have also tried her in a crate when I take her brother running and she seems to do OK.

Jeeter has a vet appointment on Wednesday to get spayed. I will update you with weight, etc. as it comes in.

By the way, the photos to not do Jeeter justice--she is a great dog!
