Introducing RAGOM’s newest member, Jenny 14-021!  This sweet little girl was lovingly surrendered to RAGOM after her family realized that she had more energy than they could manage.  They made this difficult decision with Jenny’s best interests in mind.  Jenny comes from a very loving home that took wonderful care of her.  She is current on all of her puppy vaccines, heartworm and flea/tick prevention, and has even been to puppy classes!  We promise that we will find her an amazing forever home!

Jenny is a 4 month old purebred female Golden Retriever puppy, born on 9/20/13.  She will be going to the vet this week for a wellness exam, microchip, and spay surgery.  We don’t have her current weight yet, but on January 9, she was around 20 pounds.  Even though she is tiny, she keeps up with our two resident dogs and foster brother Cooper!  I think she will probably be on the smaller side when fully grown, maybe around 50 pounds or so.  Jenny is very well socialized and confident.  She loves car rides and going for walks!

Potty training is a work in progress.  We are learning her cues and she is learning our routines.  I suspect once she’s been here a little longer it will get a little better.  We are taking her out frequently, but she often likes to play instead when she goes out!  So, for now, we are having her go out by herself so she can’t get distracted.  We are crating her at night, during the day while we are gone, and any time we aren’t able to watch her.  She likes her crate and will go in it to get a break from the bigger dogs or to take a nap.  During the work day, I come home at lunch so she can get a potty break and get a chance to run around and stretch her legs.  She is such a smart puppy!  Jenny knows “sit” very well.  We are also working on “come” and “off” (no jumping) currently.  Although she didn't have a fenced yard in her previous home, I do think she would really benefit from having a fenced yard to run and play safely in.  A fenced in yard isn't required, but is definitely preferred for Jenny.

Jenny gets along great with the dogs here!  She pretty much ignores our 3 year old resident dog, Vinnie, since he doesn’t want to play much with her.  She knows that our other resident, 2.5 year old Finn, and foster brother, 8 month old Cooper 13-437, will play and wrestle with her all day.  They chase each other, wrestle, play fight, bite, and chew on each other all day long!  Jenny is very high energy and I think she would really benefit from having another active and playful dog in her forever home.  A few walks per day are not going to be enough exercise for this girl!    Jenny is afraid of our 2 cats, and she prefers to stay away from them.  She loves my 9 year old daughter.  Because of her playfulness and energy level, we think she would be best in a family with kids over the age of 7 years old.  Jenny is very active and is a wild puppy most of the day.  However, once she's tired, she loves to snuggle with us and give kisses.  She is a very loving and sweet puppy and will make a wonderful member of some lucky family!

PLEASE REMEMBER:

  • Puppies are a LOT of work in their first year!
  • Puppies have a small, immature bladder and cannot go a full work day without being let out. You will need to make arrangements for someone to come in midday until he is about 6 months old.
  • Puppies NEED obedience, socialization and manners training! RAGOM gets many unmannered and under-socialized dogs surrendered due to the simple lack of training and socialization when the puppy was young. This is a crucial time for puppies to learn about so many things!
