This is the most recent information available; however, it may change as we learn more about the dog.

Please welcome Jerzee to RAGOM! Jerzee is a 4-year-old female purebred Golden Retriever, weighs 55 pounds, and has a medium golden coat. She’s spayed and up-to-date on all vaccines, heartworm preventatives, and Frontline.

Jerzee is calm and affectionate, and immediately made herself at home here. She’s completely housebroken, respects baby gates, has full roam of the house during the day, and is crated when we are gone without issue. Jerzee has bonded well with both our 9-year-old old son and 7-month-old baby. Although she enjoys playing with her toys, chewing on bones, or rolling a ball around the house, her favorite time seems to be when she is outside just watching the world (and wildlife). She’s the only Golden that has ever curled up in my lap while I was sitting in the grass!

Observations:

  • Knows the Golden nudge for affection and tummy rubs
  • Housebroken; will whine at the door or will come and get you
  • Eats well, is treat-motivated and takes them gently, does not beg at the table
  • Sleeps in her crate with the door left open or on the floor in our bedroom
  • Does well on car rides
  • Knows the commands "sit," "come," and "off"
  • Walks well on Gentle Leader
  • No resource guarding with food or toys
  • She’s quite calm, and only barks when very excited
  • Likes to be bathed and brushed, and does OK with nail trimming
  • She will sometimes curl up on furniture, but gets off when asked
  • Has shown no separation anxiety, is crated 1 hour when we’re away

We do not have a fence, so I’ve been walking Jerzee daily for 2 miles at midday and 1 mile at night in a metro/nature park around a lake. Thus far, we’ve encountered: walkers, joggers, bikers, people walking dogs (medium, large, small Beagle) with no reaction. We’ve passed small barking Poodles - she reacted by pulling/jumping, but sat when asked and took her treat without incident.

Forever Home Requirement:
Jerzee needs a home without small dogs or cats, and where any such interactions can be monitored. She’s a very sweet Golden girl, and will thrive in a loving home.
