Now that we have had a little time to get to know her, we would like to introduce Josie to our RAGOM fans. She came from North Dakota where she was found as a stray, so very little is really known about her. The initial information we received said she was approximately 4 years old. However, we have just returned from her wellness vet visit and she is actually in the 7-8 year old range. The vet made this determination based on her teeth, eyes and overall appearance. She is underweight at 48.8 pounds, but does not have worms. She just needs more time with some really good food. She has limited muscle tone in her back legs, so we need to get her out on some long walks and maybe even a run or two. The vet stressed this will help with her hips, Josie has some stiffness when she gets up. She also has very sensitive feet. We tried to cut her toenails, which are way too long, but we will be letting the professionals handle that. The vet thought he could feel a surgical knot, but it was difficult to be positive . . . . I guess we will have to wait and see if she needs to be spayed. It will be a couple days before we have the results back on her heartworm test.
Having said all that, let me say . . . . we think she is gorgeous. Most of the time she is quiet and calm, however, she does not like it when our resident girl, Pepper Anne, and Isabella #09-100 get loud and rowdy. We have been working with her on playing nice. She does love to carry a squeaky toy around in her mouth. She is absolutely the best snuggler. She loves to lay on the couch and take a nap (see picture). She is completely housetrained and knows her basic commands. She does not like it when people walk by the house, so we are working on a sit and stay while they go by.
