Profile

Junior arrived at our house yesterday and all I can say is that whomever adopts this dog will be very lucky indeed!

Junior is a 2-yr old 59 pound purebred golden male who comes from a family who is going through a divorce. Junior is very well acclimated to family life it seems and as soon as he hopped into the car with us for the drive home, my son was giggling and squealing in the back seat as Junior licked his face and sat on him to get a better view out the window. I knew he was going to make a great family dog then!

First, Junior is ADORABLE! He has the sweetest golden face and though he is small, he is beautiful with a straight coat. I spent about an hour with the de-shedding brush taking out gobs of his undercoat. I was surprised by the amount of hair coming out as he doesn’t have the typical fluffy-all-over golden coat. His coat is more subdued but he still has the feathers and fluffy tail.

Junior spent the first day trying to adjust to his new surroundings and he seems to just go with the flow and takes it all in- he will need to be neutered shortly but aside from his constant need to sniff my 2 resident females constantly and every spot in the yard where they pee, he hasn’t shown any aggression or mounting behavior toward them. He DID get into an altercation with one of the transport dogs on his journey from SD and mounted that dog (which resulted in a few staples in his chest to close a small puncture wound). However, his young exuberance seems to be in check so far at our house. I would say that Junior is a well-socialized dog who has obviously been treated well by his previous owners. He loved belly rubs and has this need to lay ON YOU when you snuggle- sometimes, he just can’t seem to be close enough. He plays tug and likes to wrestle play if that’s your thing and if you are not petting him enough, he will make that known to you by taking your hand gently in his mouth.

Take a good look at this guy as I post more photos. This one won’t last long on the adoption list!
