Profile

Junior arrived at our house yesterday and all I can say is that whomever adopts this dog will be very lucky indeed!

Junior is a 2-yr old 59 pound purebred golden male who comes from a family who is going through a divorce. Junior is very well acclimated to family life it seems and as soon as he hopped into the car with us for the drive home, my son was giggling and squealing in the back seat as Junior licked his face and sat on him to get a better view out the window. I knew he was going to make a great family dog then!

First, Junior is ADORABLE! He has the sweetest golden face and though he is small, he is beautiful with a straight coat. I spent about an hour with the de-shedding brush taking out gobs of his undercoat. I was surprised by the amount of hair coming out as he doesn’t have the typical fluffy-all-over golden coat. His coat is more subdued but he still has the feathers and fluffy tail.

Junior spent the first day trying to adjust to his new surroundings and he seems to just go with the flow and takes it all in- he will need to be neutered shortly but aside from his constant need to sniff my 2 resident females constantly and every spot in the yard where they pee, he hasn’t shown any aggression or mounting behavior toward them. He DID get into an altercation with one of the transport dogs on his journey from SD and mounted that dog (which resulted in a few staples in his chest to close a small puncture wound). However, his young exuberance seems to be in check so far at our house. I would say that Junior is a well-socialized dog who has obviously been treated well by his previous owners. He loved belly rubs and has this need to lay ON YOU when you snuggle- sometimes, he just can’t seem to be close enough. He plays tug and likes to wrestle play if that’s your thing and if you are not petting him enough, he will make that known to you by taking your hand gently in his mouth.

Take a good look at this guy as I post more photos. This one won’t last long on the adoption list!

Well, today, Junior found his new FUREVER home. He leaves in 2 days to be with his new family and it is with great satisfaction that I can say he will be loved like a golden should be loved. Junior hasn’t been with us long but my heart is already feeling heavy as he prepares to start his new, happy life. Thank you, Mark and Michelle, for opening your hearts to this sweet, sweet boy. Junior is so lucky to have found you. I posted a few last shots of him-you can see him smiling!

This week has been a busy one for Junior- Fortunately, he’s a dog who likes to meet a good challenge head-on! Junior was neutered a week ago and once the first day was over, he bounced back with vigor. It was a little sad to see this guy laid out on his bed for hours and throwing up from the anesthesia. He hadn’t eaten in over a day and was still lethargic the day AFTER his surgery, so I tried to get him to eat hot dogs and other good soft doggie food- nope, he wouldn’t take an...

Hi, Junior here. Foster mom is doing homework with her son now so she let me do my own update today. I have to make it short cuz I’m not feeling so well today- Mom took me to get tutored today, or something like that. I don’t know what that IS, but I woke up feeling all woozy and sore. My tummy isn’t feeling really great yet but Mom says tomorrow will be a better day. I hope so because I want to play so bad but just don’t have the energy to get off my bed. My foster dad h...

Junior has been at our home now for 4 days and we are learning a lot about this gorgeous boy. He is so friendly and ready to give you all the love and attention you need- maybe even a little more for good measure. He has the sweetest face and so much youthful exuberance but also remarkably well adjusted. He is confident and doesn’t seem to have any fears or worries that I can see. He is definitely a ball of energy. When he first got here, after some introductions and lots of sniffing, Juni...
