This is the most recent information available; however, it may change as we learn more about the dog.

Miss Southern Belle, Kerry, has joined the RAGOM family travelling all the way from Franklin, TN. She is a petite 44-lb Golden Retriever mix, spayed, up-to-date on shots, and oh-so lovable!

Miss Kerry has done fabulous in our home since she arrived. She has had only two pee accidents - one the day she arrived and one when her Foster Dad was not too quick on getting her outside (I hope he doesn't read this!). Kerry loves to wrestle with her Foster Brother, Buddy 14-009. The have a wrestling match each morning after their walk and breakfast and a few in the evening.

Kerry is in an extra large crate during the day while we are gone at work (about 6-7 hours weekdays). She has free roam at night, but goes in her crate all by herself and sleeps with the door open! She loves car rides and does great. She travelled to the lake last weekend (about 90 miles) and she and Buddy for the most part laid down, and every so often, they would trade places.

This little peanut is so soft and cuddly - she still looks very much like a puppy. Her pads on her feet are velvety and she has the cutest black nose, along with a little crimping on her fluffy ear fur. Kerry does jump up, but is quickly learning the "down" command. She is not big enough to knock over adults or older children. She has played with children as young as 8 years old and does great. She loves to sit on the kids' laps and lick ears, lick face, lick ears, lick face - such a little doll! Kerry does know the "sit" command and is treat-motivated.

And not to forget - one VERY important detail - Kerry is AWESOME on the leash. She does not pull and she and FB Buddy can be walked TOGETHER! We do need to do some further testing on meeting unfamiliar dogs on walks as she can be snarky. She will give a growl and pull when they meet close up. We will update on our progress with that soon.

Kerry lets us take things from her mouth, takes treats gently, and has no food aggression. She did growl at her FB Buddy when he tried to take her toy away the other day. I honestly think he did it to be naughty as he does not even like toys! Kerry doesn't have much interest in tennis balls and playing with toys is pretty short-lived - she is all around a pretty mellow dog and just wants love and attention.

Kerry is currently undergoing medical treatment for adult-stage heartworm. Other than that, she is in perfect health. She will have her first injection on October 1st and then two shots to follow the first week of November. If all goes well, she should be ready for her forever home in December. What a perfect time to bring a new family member in to your home - a Golden little package!

If you are able, would you maybe consider sponsoring Kerry? Heartworm treatment is very expensive and not to mention very hard on a dog. Kerry would kiss you a million times if you could help out with her vet bills!

If Kerry may sound like the dog for you, please contact your placement advisor. Even though it will most likely be a few months before her treatment is completed, she would like to meet anyone who may be her forever family!

And don't forget - Goldzilla is fast approaching on September 14th. If you are able to attend or donate, please do - it really helps dogs like Kerry who need some extra care to find their way to their loving, forever homes!
