Kinsey is a big, sweet, mellow, smart boy. He was a stray so not much is known about him. He's from South Dakota and the story was that he came in as a stray, was adopted out to a family who brought him to a vet who said that he needed hip surgery. The family could not afford the surgery, so he was brought back to the humane society who then sent him to RAGOM. After a long transport that left the poor guy a bit discombobulated, he arrived and was met by two exuberant dogs who couldn't wait to play, but he wasn't ready for that. Then the cat had to make sure that Kinsey knew that he was boss, established with one giant hiss after a long staring match. The vet confirmed that he did need hip surgery. She guesses that there was either an injury that didn't heal properly, or chronic hip dysplasia, but the hip joint is compromised.
Kinsey has the mellow sweet personality of a dream Golden. He's persistent with the nudges, as he wants more pets. He cannot get enough affection. He loves, loves loves to be petted. He eats well, drinks, does his business outside (seems to be housebroken so far). His hips do seem to cause him some discomfort as he doesn't like to stand for long; the groomer also noticed this. He's got some Rimadyl or the pain. He's done fine with the resident dogs. He doesn't engage much with them, he prefers to go off and sleep by himself, but he's getting more social each day. He doesn't seem to be a barker. He enjoyed chewing on a bone this evening for the first time, and he was the hit of the party at the little dinner party that was here tonight . He's totally handsome and 75 lbs of love! He's going to make somebody really happy once we get him taken care of! Keep an eye out for news on what's next for this good boy!
