It is my pleasure to introduce you to my temporary foster boy, the absolutely wonderful Kody. Kody has traveled far and endured a great deal, yet remains one of the sweetest and most well-behaved dogs I have ever met. Seriously! When he first arrived, he was shy, skinny and not well. He had tummy issues, an ear and upper respiratory infection. He traveled here, via transport, all the way from a high-kill shelter in Louisville, KY. He is between 4.5 and 5 years old and about 50 pounds (10-15 underweight). Two things were quite evident, someone loved this boy at some time and someone abused and neglected him. In the last 10 days, he has gained some weight, healed nicely from the infections and come out of his shell. Boy, has he ever!!

He is an absolute love! He jumps up on my recliner and curls his 50+ pounds up on my lap. It is delightful!! He adores being petted but does not push for it. He is just an always willing recipient!  Kody also loves to play! It took a few days, but eventually he located a rope toy. That first day (and ever since) I must have thrown that rope 100 times. He was absolutely full of joy and enthusiasm. Initially, he was wary of my husband, but that has passed. He loves my sister's Ragom girl, Lucy, and my resident, Stanley. He and Lucy romp around the backyard and have a blast!  We have had a couple of issues with resource guarding, so all meals are supervised and all bowls go up between meals. So far, no more issues.

I think that Kody is definitely benefitting from having other dogs around. He arrived here so traumatized and has just blossomed. I know he is going to miss Lucy so much!

We are going to miss Kody when he goes on to his permanent foster home on Saturday. This is one special boy. He came here able to sit, lie down and high five. He is remarkably obedient while still being mischievous and full of joy. Once Kody has been re-checked and cleared by the Vet, his perm-foster can begin to introduce him. Keep this boy in mind, they don't come around like him that often!! We are going to miss him so much!!
