I have been in my foster home a week now and I need to introduce myself and tell you about myself. My name is Ivy. Foster mom calls me Miss Ivy. I am said to be 6-7 years old. They do not know for sure because when I first was found in '09 I was wandering the streets of MPLS so my age is a guesstimation. I was adopted into a wonderful home in '09, but I am now back in RAGOM. The family who adopted me have now started a family and I get really nervous around little children and they thought it would be for my best interest and the right thing to do for me to come back into RAGOM. They really did not want to do that, but I will be better around children 7-8 or older.
I had no trouble when I got here with meeting the two resident brothers and the two resident sisters. They just act like I have been here all the time. I am one happy girl. My tail wags all the time. In fact my whole back end (foster dad says my whole body) wags when my tail wags. If you are not petting me, I make sure that you do by taking my nose and getting it under your hand. When you sit on the couch I will get up and sit with you and take my paw and paw at your hand to pet me. You can hear me before you see me as my tail always thumps with excitement.
During the day on the days that foster mom has to work I have free roam of the house with all of the other puppers and I am just fine. I LOVE to play ball and will do it for as long as you play with me. I do not walk real well on a leash. I pull real bad, but when I wear my gentle leader I do much better. I take one pill a day for my hypothyroidism. I was just at the good doctors in March for my check up and shots and my thyroid levels came back within normal limits. I weigh about 60 lbs. and that is a good weight for me.
I sleep either at the bottom of foster mom and foster dad's bed or on my dog bed that is right next to the big bed. I love my belly rubs and being doted on. I take treats ever so gentle that foster mom says she has to practically put them in my mouth unlike my 'brothers" and "sisters" where foster mom has to tell them "easy, easy" before she gives them a treat. I love being outside, but I do need a fenced in yard with a physical fence. I follow foster mom around all the time outside and inside both. She calls me velcro dog. I let foster mom know when I have to go outside by going and standing by the back door. Foster mom has not heard me bark yet. My previous owners say that I love to swim and go for car rides. The commands that foster mom knows so far that I know are sit, stay, wait, leave it, shake, off, and all done. I do fine with the felines here. There are four, but if they are running and playing with each other, I think I can run after them because I want to play too. But when foster mom says: "Oh no, we do not chase the kitties", then I stop.
I will be a welcome addition to the lucky family that chooses me to be the new member of their family. Just contact you placement advisor to talk to foster mom about me.
