From country dog to suburban dog. That's the change that Little Girl has been adapting to. Little Girl is a 5-year-old, purebred, spayed female Golden Retriever. She used to be an outdoor dog, but has adapted well to being an indoor dog. She hasn't made any mess in the house and poops as far away from the house as possible, so we are saying she is house-trained. Some new things are a little scary, but she's handling it well. Like the automatic garage door - it makes noise and moves - and the post office truck for some reason.
When Little Girl got here, she weighed in at 97 pounds. She's overweight, but it doesn't slow her down too much. Little Girl will go up and down a ramp to get into our SUV and rides calmly. She loves going for walks and chasing tennis balls. Little Girl has learned to play tug with our resident dog, but hasn't wrestled or played chase yet. Little Girl is known to hoard all the bones on her bed. Little Girl met our 2-year-old grandson and is just fine with him. She actually has pretty much ignored him all day. She willingly goes up to adult humans for petting.
Little Girl is the daughter of Angel 15-194 . If Angel whines or barks, Little Girl will go up to comfort Angel. Sometimes, Little Girl lays right next to Angel. Little Girl had 2 other siblings, so she has never been an only dog. It's hard to guess at how she'd do home alone.
Ideally, Little Girl's forever family would adopt both Little Girl and Angel. The family must be committed to helping Little Girl get to her ideal weight - somewhere around 70-75 pounds.
