This is the most recent information available; however, it may change as we learn more about the dog.

Luke is a fabulous 2-year-old purebred Golden Retriever male. He was surrendered due to being picked on by another dog in his previous home (and his temporary foster home). Due to this, he should be in a home where he is the only dog. He is currently approximately 56 pounds and underweight. He has a beautiful golden coat and gorgeous light brown eyes. Luke is a gentle soul and loves to spend time relaxing where he can keep an eye on me. He has the run of the house, but is crated at night or when I need to leave during the day. This is due to our 2 cats who are terrified of him (what a big DOG in OUR house???). He crates nicely when Foster Dad puts him in at night, not so much for Foster Mom during the day where he will bark before settling down after I leave. If not for the cats, we would allow him to sleep in our room with us. (They sneak up after he is asleep.) He doesn't seem too concerned about them other than a mild curiosity. He is not allowed on the furniture and he caught on quickly after a couple minutes of telling him "no." He likes to meet new people and will try to jump up on them at first. He would love to give them a big puppy hug. He settles down pretty quickly, though. He likes little kids, but needs to be restrained until he settles down or he will try to jump up and knock them down. He also thinks he is a lap dog and would love nothing better than crawling onto your lap to rest. He does not guard either his food or toys and does not cruise the counters or beg at the table.

He loves his walks and is a good walker. He walks about 3 feet in front and to the left. He pulls, but not very strongly. He doesn't startle at loud noises, but he is not too crazy about the vacuum cleaner. He would love to go to obedience with his new family to help him learn to be the best dog he can be.
