Meet Mister Mike.

This sweet 18 month old boy is a beauty in every respect.  He's a mellow fellow and just wants some positive attention. He likes to follow our resident's leadand  is a really quick learner, too.  He previously lived in an outdoor kennel, but in a couple of days he learned to jump in and out of the car, go up and down the stairs, the commands for sit, lay down, come, and how to ring the jingle bells on the door knob to go outside. He is submissive to other dogs and not at all reactive to other dogs that growl or bark at him.  He's curious about life and was unsure what to do when he saw the clinic cat at the vet's office.  He's up to date with vaccinations, is neutered, and microchipped.

Mike cowers when you raise your hand or a hat or a platter over his head or when you move quickly in his direction. He kennels well and doesn't make a peep.  He loves people and wants to play like any young dog.  He has a big, broad head and a gorgeous deep red coat. He weighs about 63 lbs. ( He was cowering on the scale, and one foot was on the floor.)  He may run about 65 lbs.

The ONLY negative thing I can say about this guy is that he pulls on the leash like a tractor.  Using the harness has made a world of difference to be able to walk him, but his new family will have to be committed to a training regime that will allow a leisurely walk without feeling like you're along for the ride.  He's a smart, loving dog that will pick it up quickly.  He's good with kids and other dogs.  He could be an only dog or would get along great with a resident dog.  What a versatile guy.
