3/7/06: Moca is a big boy, about 5 years old, with a very nice temperament. He seems to get along just fine with our resident Golden and I am sure they will eventually become best of friends. I gave Moca a bath on Sunday evening. He wasn't too excited about getting into the tub but once he got in the tub he seemed to enjoy the bath and didn't try to jump out. While bathing him I discovered several large hair mats on his rear end under his tail, which we proceeded to cut off Monday morning after his coat was thoroughly dry. He wasn't exactly happy about having the hair mats removed but seemed a lot happier after they were gone. I had to hand feed him when we got him on Saturday but his appetite has improved daily. He has the run of the house when we are home. He likes to run around and investigate his new foster home. He hasn't had any accidents in our home and he always takes care of his business in our fenced in back yard. He sleeps in his crate at night and if both of us have to be gone for a while he is crated. After we get to know him better I am sure he will probably sleep in our bedroom.
We took him to the vet yesterday afternoon for a wellness check. I knew he needed to be treated for tape worms as I noticed them in his stools on several occasions. So he received an injection for that and will get a follow up injection in three weeks. Other than that Moca had the usual vaccinations, Heartworm test, and appears to be in good health. He weighed 85 pounds.
Moca has been used to running loose so will need to go to a forever home with a fenced in yard and due to his size, he will probably be best suited to a home without real small children. Other than that, he is going to make some forever family very happy indeed.
