On a beautiful day in November, I met a transport volunteer to pick up our next foster. The first thing he did was show me his silly smile. Murdock is not your average-sized Golden, and on the ride home, he spread out taking up the entire backseat of our car. He met our lonely resident boy without any issue and it seemed as if they became immediate friends. We knew he came from a loving home, so we weren’t surprised by his good manners. It’s not often a foster dog comes into your house and it feels like an immediately perfect fit, but that was exactly how we felt about Murdock. He very quickly became attached to foster dad, or maybe it was foster dad who very quickly became attached to him. We had recently lost our special resident girl and our house just wasn’t the same without her, that is, until Murdock showed up. He brought laughter and silliness back to us and we all knew he would have to stay.

Our only concern is he loves his veggies. In most cases, this would be a good thing, but we are sure Murdock will feel obliged to help pick the veggies from the garden, whether they’re ready or not. I guess we will just have to plant a few extra rows just for him. It should be quite entertaining.

To Murdock’s original family, we want to thank you for making the difficult decision to entrust Murdock into RAGOM’s care. He has become a special member of our family and we love him dearly. He enjoys his outings to grandma and grandpa’s house in the country, where he gets to run on 10 acres. This summer, he will get to go on fishing trips with mom and dad around the various lakes in Minnesota (and maybe Canada). He has even taken on the role of foster greeter and welcomes all the new dogs into our home.

Murdock is safe and sound in his new forever home. He is loved … he is spoiled … he is happy.
